In a very bad year for them Vols, they are 5th in attendance. 2 of the top 5 are SEC schools. WOW!!!!!

Tenn is much better suited to try and become a basketball school and leave that football to schools with a more than 16 years of tradition and alocal recruiting base.

Kentucky leads the nation in home attendance with 23,541 per game through last weekend, followed by Syracuse (21,931), Louisville (21,291), North Carolina (19,794), UT (17,378)

I agree that UT has a better chance at being/maintaining a top tier basketball school.  The house that Bruce built continues to do well despite a down season.  Let's hope that CM can bring in some talent and get back on track next year so that the black curtains do not make a return.

Cool. So are they filling that huge place? I remember in the late 90’s (when I lived in Knoxville and so followed UT sports more closely than now) it stood largely empty. Filling that gigantic arena consistently is a tall order. Maybe some the other schools named above can do it, but they are also top-tier programs, as has been noted.

Well, all UT has to do is go to the NCAA tournament at least 10 straight years, go to a bunch of Final Fours, consistently be at least a top 20 team (with very few exceptions), win more than its share of SEC championships, etc. No problem.

The question has been asked before: “If Obama wanted to destroy America, what would be do differently than what he’s doing now?”

If I wanted America to fail, I would vote for Barack Hussein Obama in 2012.

I think basketball is a great sport to support and assist the football program in carrying the AD.
