I told you earlier about my diagnosis, what I didn't mention was that MD wanted to put me on insulin. I asked to try oral meds and diet changes. I had an A1c2 numbers of 9.9 and numerous Blood Sugar readings over 200 and twice over 500.
The doctors finally allowed me to try oral meds only and with exercise diet and 3000 milligrams of Metaformin my numbers are down to 5.5 on the A1c2. I lost 30 lbs and lots of fluid and puffiness were because my kidneys were not functioning properly
When these MD's make these diagnoses be sure and be active in your treatment and be educated.
The diet is not that bad plus when you do insulin you have to diet to feed the insulin just as you diet low carb to keep your blood sugar down.
Please be very cognitive of any changes you experience and if you ever get the diagnoses of Diabetes be active in your treatment.

BR,
Glad to hear that news. Good advice about any medical problem. I think most doctors will work with you, if you work with them. I think they appreciate when a patient does try to work with them. I talked with my buddy out in California who said his doctor told him that he had started telling patients that if they didn't work with him, then they could go elsewhere. He said life is too short to fool with those unwilling to make the effort and help themselves by taking care of themselves.

I was sent to a CDE in August and learned how to live with Diabetes, I was lucky I did not have to return for Insulin school.
This diet was a simple exchange diet and rules of thumb for measuring portion size. It also took getting use to checking my blood sugar before and after meals and exercise to guage effect meter readings. I kept an on line log and my meter recorded time and blood sugar level that I sent to her on a weekly basis.
Working with her I did lean towards a diet lower than 180 total carb and 1800 Calorie a day and heavy on certain Mediteranean foods and substances. Olive Oil olives, fresh veggies, lighter white cheeses etc. Fish at least once a week. Any pork or beef had to have the word "loin: in its title. Wheat Bread only (I used sugar free natures own) Carb Balance tortillas. Only and very little brown and wild rice unprocessed. 5 or more veggies a day. Emphasis on raw radishes, cucumber, pepper, celery, spinach and other green leaves and other heavy water at least one cup raw a day(prefer 2). 3 or more cooked light veggies(brocccoli, spinach green leaf products, Brushitel sprouts, Green Beans, zucchini) Artichoke hearts dates grapes fruits fresh twice a day. Nuts( walnuts, almonds, pecans and Brazil nuts) Beans towards higher fiber low sugar Butter Beans, Black Bean, Red Beans. Higher exchange veggies such as Carrots etc RAW only. 8 CUPS of WATER a DAY, no exception.
Truvia as a sugar substitute.....
Walking and swimming routine.
Get in touch with your body. Certain itching lets you know you are heavy on the sugars. Bright ligfht sensitivity and like a haze around what you see also lets you know to adjust. Ringing in your ears also signals HBS to mne. My Blood pressure is now in the 120 over 80 range and has not been out of that range in months but the sugar level has varied. High HBS means a brisk jog or walk.....
Low fat dairy only!!!

PV, the diet sounds right on. I would not use truvia. Still a lot unknown and there are some negative rumors. So often sugar is made out to be the enemy. it is not. moderation. Sugar substitutes are almost always chemically modified. I would cut out any diet and regular soda. Poison.
Diet, diet, diet.
In many cases, here's what a doctor does.
Patient: Hey Doc, my roof is leaking, what can I do? Doctor: Well I'm going to give you a prescription for these buckets. Just place these around wherever you have a leak.
A few weeks later.... Patient: Hey Doc, my roof is still leaking. In fact I have new leaks. Doctor: Well, we have a new product on the market. Titanium buckets. I'm going to write you a script for them.
A few weeks later...., Patient: Doc, I've still got a leaky roof. Doctor: Well I hate to tell you, but you have chronic roofitis. I'm afraid you will have to use these buckets the rest of your life.
Friends, doctors study medicine. So, that is there solution 90% of the time. To put you on medicine. Americans are incredibly unhealthy. The body is incredibly resilient, but if we treat it like a garbage dumb guess what. I am convinced that many medical conditions including early onset diabetes could be cured with diet and exercise.

In most cases, early onset diabetes can be treated with EXERCISE and diet. E & D will keep insulin away with type 2. I take 2 pills daily for my type 2, along with E & D. So far so good.
