When I was at UT there were always several football players that ran track. Are there any football players running track?

Does anyone know where CLK stands on dual sport athletes? Back when Tennessee was known as "WideRecieverU" seems like the track team was harvested for a pretty good target or two.

Some also played baseball.
Condredge Holloway, Jimmy Streater and of course Helton.
Probably more.

Widby played football, basketball and possibly golf.
One year he played in the Sugar Bowl basketball tourney then
played in the bowl game that year.

The guy that shared time with Jim Bob Cooter as the green team QB also played tennis...

Chip Kell was a shot putter, too, in addition to playing football.  Terry McDaniel ran track and played DB.

We heard for years from the 1180 UT Jethros about how Coach Fulmer did not allow this or that football player to play basketball or track.

I wonder if Coach Pearl is going to encourage Emanuel Negedu to play defensive end for Lane in spring practice?  Supposedly Negedu chased rabbits in Africa so he could eat.  Sacking a QB could not be that hard.

Brian Williams could play a little DT in spring ball.

Our BB players could & should learn what it is like to get knocked around.  They could get used to playing Louisville and Pitt, if they get the opportunity.

There are too many football/tracksters to list.  Richmond Flowers is notable because he was one of the first.  I'm pretty sure that he was an All-American hurdler... don't remember if he was an AA at wingback.

I think that Alvin Harper might have been a high jumper.

Did Carl Pickens do track?

What happened was that the NCAA began counting football players with skollies in other sports against the football total and football training went year-round.

I think you are right, Thunder.

Reggie Jones was a trackster that tried football one year but he
didn't work out. I think though that the Cowboys might have picked him up
because of his speed. Don't remember how that worked out.

Those guys were probably better baseball players than football. The same with some of those track folks.... The rule changes by the NCAA discourages dual sport participation...
