What are you referring to there?  I have no idea.  I have read that KSM gave up a plot on LA under waterboarding, but several other unnamed sources, the same kind that said waterboarding works, said NOTHING of value came out of his interrogation.  One "CIA insider" said "90% of it was total f'ing bull****."

And the false choice is we either torture OR we don't get ANY information.  It's either torture or die a horrible death.  That isn't the trade-off we've accepted ever before, not officially.  We also KNOW that TRADITIONAL means of interrogation produces valuable intelligence that officials can actually rely on because it wasn't given to stop a drowning.

In short there is no evidence that I've seen even from people on the front lines that torture works or that it's an acceptable trade-off to obliterate our values for a POSSIBLE short term intelligence gain that is more likely to come from traditional questioning means.

I have not read all of the posts here yet but I have one question for you and other Jr Nazis errr Omama's. Does waterboarding kill anyone? Has there been deaths with this? I do not know of any. Not that we would but if there was the communist democrats would have went nuts. If this is an uncomfortable yet harmless way to get info why the problem? I am confused. Please tell me why a non fatal way to save American lives is a bad thing.

It is "bad interrogation. I mean you can get anyone to confess to anything if the torture's bad enough," said former CIA officer Bob Baer.
Larry Johnson, a former CIA officer and a deputy director of the State Department's office of counterterrorism, recently wrote in the Los Angeles Times, "What real CIA field officers know firsthand is that it is better to build a relationship of trust … than to extract quick confessions through tactics such as those used by the Nazis and the Soviets."

One argument in favor of their use: time. In the early days of al Qaeda captures, it was hoped that speeding confessions would result in the development of important operational knowledge in a timely fashion.

However, ABC News was told that at least three CIA officers declined to be trained in the techniques before a cadre of 14 were selected to use them on a dozen top al Qaeda suspects in order to obtain critical information. In at least one instance, ABC News was told that the techniques led to questionable information aimed at pleasing the interrogators and that this information had a significant impact on U.S. actions in Iraq.

According to CIA sources, Ibn al Shaykh al Libbi, after two weeks of enhanced interrogation, made statements that were designed to tell the interrogators what they wanted to hear. Sources say Al Libbi had been subjected to each of the progressively harsher techniques in turn and finally broke after being water boarded and then left to stand naked in his cold cell overnight where he was doused with cold water at regular intervals.

His statements became part of the basis for the Bush administration claims that Iraq trained al Qaeda members to use biochemical weapons. Sources tell ABC that it was later established that al Libbi had no knowledge of such training or weapons and fabricated the statements because he was terrified of further harsh treatment.

"This is the problem with using the waterboard. They get so desperate that they begin telling you what they think you want to hear," one source said.

I am sure that since rush and hannity didn't say it, you neocons won't believe it...but then, you all have a way of ignoring facts and the truth.

1) It is TORTURE.  The entire world agrees on this, WE agreed on this until we started doing it.  We have prosecuted our enemies for doing it.
2) Uncomfortable?  Isn't pulling out a fingernail "uncomfortable?"  I'm not aware of anyone dying from that.  Electric shocks are another "uncomfortable" technique we could add to our arsenal of non-lethal techniques.  How about crushing a child's testicles.  I think Yoo actually signed off on that as an OK technique.

Quote
Cassel: If the President deems that he’s got to torture somebody, including by crushing the testicles of the person’s child, there is no law that can stop him?

Yoo: No treaty.

3) We don't get good information from torture.
4) Torture is AQ best recruiting tool, according to people who, you know, fight the terrorists over there so we don't have to over here.  And it leads to more deaths of our people fighting them over there on our behalf, which should concern Patriots like you.  It might be why the Pentagon is about universally opposed to torture.

AV, I really do apologize for showing you so much truth about yourself that it drove you insane.  No, I don't.  You couldn't handle the truth and became crazy, but in the end, the truth will set you free.

I sincerely hope you get professional help soon before you hurt someone. I do not personally care if you hurt yourself...that would be fine by me, but you are becoming so delusional that you might hurt an innocent bystander.

Maybe you can blame your desertion on PTSD and get that bad conduct discharge upgraded!
