Her stunning move comes as sources revealed that Paterson had intended to appoint her to the now-vacant seat today.

my guess is someone found some dubious stuff in her background. that marriage is a sham and all in ny know it to be. i am wondering if some funny bidness
 got uncovered and she wants to shield the kids. could be uncle chappaquiddick's brain tumor situation too. look for her to be back when the current senate
 term  expires. also, never rule out a dramatic stunt of some kind by the kennedy's. she could pull out and get one of bobby's kids to take her place.
