Republican tax cuts are creating jobs and continuing to strengthen the economy, yet there is still more to do so that every American who wants a job can find one.

Very interesting quote. Our HR has been trying to fill five positions for the past three weeks. We need two certified welders and three labor/welders helpers. Unfortunately, the job does involve work, sometimes outside even and some overtime is required. We can only offer $23-$26 for certified welders and $12 to$14 for the helpers.

So far, and after at least 100 interviews, we have hired one welder/certification update pending. At this point, it looks like we will promote some of our spanish speaking general laborers to welders helper and hopefully get one of them to certfy.

The problem is simple, everyone wants a paycheck, but when you go looking for people wanting a job, its like looking for a needle in a haystack.

Bingo.  We have the same problem here.  Hire somebody and two days later they quit showing up.  Or they can't pass the drug test, or do simple grade school math.

Shimmy I can identify with the need for motivated workers.......I really can. I would think top notch welders would be hard to find because of Watts Bar.I almost quit my job to go to Watts Bar. I would make more in 5 years there than I would where I am at now in 12 years.....

Job losses in 2008 totaled 2.6 MILLION.

If anyone wants to know why the GOP lost this year, that website is a keeper for the ages.

Welding is a trade that is still in demand, my company is just trying to keep it's head above water and we're cutting everywhere. We have let several people go over the last few months because work has slowed so much. Having said that we're still looking to add a welder that can meeet our certifications.  The problem is that we have let a dozen people go that were very good workers while we are attempting to hire one person.

You guys who keep complaining about the American worker...see above.  Maybe you can't find good workers because they don't want to work for your sorry company.

You are typical of the neocon neonuts...turn anything you can into a lie. Childish of you, but expected.

BTW, why do you hate Americans and especially the American worker?

I employ about 70 American workers, full time and full benifits. How many do you employ vagina lip?

Thats what I thought and, no, we are not there yet, look out the window.
