...I have NEVER wanted this country to fail.

Here is my  :

It is apparent from Obama's beliefs and actions that he thinks a socialist agenda is best for this country. If he is successful in implementing his openly socialist agenda, then this country will have failed. This country was not founded on anything that resembles a socialist ideology.

Just look at some of Thomas Jefferson's quotes, and that alone tells me he would not be a big Obama supporter:

A wise and frugal government, which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned - this is the sum of good government.

The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not.

The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.

My favorite:

That government is best which governs the least, because its people discipline themselves.

So if the policies of the current admin policies succeed, you will be disappointed...correct? Are you saying you want this President to fail, as rush, jw and apprently thangryvoice do? Or are you saying that while you do not like his policies, you still hope the President is successful in bringing us out of the economic decline we are currently in?

If the policies of this administration succeed, then the country, as the founding fathers established, have failed. Because Obama, as he currently stands, is the antithesis of capitalism and the beliefs that the founding fathers had when they established the tenets of this country. What is truly sad and disappointing is that Europe and, to some extents, China are moving more towards capitalism than the US.

We have an administration that is implementing this statement by Rahm Emmanuel on a daily basis:

"Never let a serious crisis go to waste. What I mean by that is it's an opportunity to do things you couldn't do before."

Further, I honestly do not see how his policies will be successful in bringing us out of the economic decline we are in. And for at least two years there will be no checks and balances to "reel him in" since those in the majority are just like Obama, if not more to the left.

Once again, Jefferson's words echo from the grave:

A wise and frugal government, which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned - this is the sum of good government.

And the part about being frugal is where Bush and Congress failed the most. Now we have Obama and Congress failing in every aspect of this statement on an even grander scale.

So you sum up everything I have said as "I hope he fails". It is so much more than that.

Once again, if his policies mean the end of the US as we, and the founding fathers, know it then absolutely yes. This nation is about so much more than one man. And it certainly didn't become great because of its government.

So LTC, if the socialist policies of the current admin succeed, you will be happy...correct? Are you saying you want this President to succeed at the expense of freedom and capitalism?

I gather you are not in agreement with Jefferson when he said "That government is best which governs the least, because its people discipline themselves"...correct?

I totally agree with Jefferson...too bad now that your kind have thrown us into this mess, you and them are NOW becoming fiscal conservatives.  The time for less gubment was 8 years ago....but your buddies in Congress and the wannabee dictator never met a SPENDING BILL that accomplished nothing that they didn't love...and I don't remember you or any republican complaining at that time.....or complaining about the mortgage debacle that was happening.

In fact I have yet to see many republicans complaining about the last eight years of fiscal mismanagement.....instead they are promoting the same FAILED policies that got us into the mess we are in.

The fact that the republican party is looking to a drug addicted hate-joke -jock as their leader shows just how little credibility they have.

It doesn't matter whether or not you wish for success or failure of the President's plan, on the surface it does not appear to be in line with our founding fathers, nor does it seem possible that his actions will have a positive long term outcome. As a Bush supporter, I will add that many of his fiscal policies were not in line as well, but the gross knee jerk reaction and liberal mandate does not seem to be the answer.

He also needs to stop using the line that 95% of Americans will get a tax break and be better off, he already won the election so the slogan served his purpose.

If you lower taxes on 95% of Americans and raise taxes on the top earners, including corporations and small businesses then 1 thing will happen: the price tag of everything will go up proportionately plus a little extra.
Obama gave you an extra $13 a week, so $50/mo, yet his policies will cause gas prices, electricity prices, cost of goods and services, etc to go up by much more than the free $50 he just gave you. The tax policy will undoubtedly shut down some smaller companies, so what good is a tax break if you don't have a job?

IMO, expansion of government is never an answer to any malady.

I don't think it's that simple.  If businesses could just wave a wand and pass on an extra 5% of their profits to make up for the additional tax, they would do last month and not need to wait for a tax increase.

And more than that, it's the health of the overall economy that should be worrying businesses, not the tax on the back end on their take home pay.  I'm positive Ted Russell is more worried about his customers not being able to afford his new cars at sticker prices than he is the marginal rate going back to Clinton era levels.  That's why the republican disregard for workers' wages is puzzling.  I guess if your clients are all in the top brackets, maybe it's not as big a deal, but surely THEIR customer base at some point is working people.

BTW, if you want to be technical, a tax increase has what I recall is both an income and leisure trade-off.  Some will want to work harder to replace the lost income.  Others might decide that they'd rather have more leisure, since the payoff from an extra dollar of work goes down.  It's a trade-off and not at all clear that entrepreneurs will say, damn, I make 5 cents less per dollar of profit, so I think I'll retire to Florida and play golf!.

Again with your lies...no one rejoiced over the deaths of our brave men and women...we cried for them and condemned the wannabee dictator and dickie the draft dodger for sending them into harm's way based on lies and innuendo.  You and your ilk, however, trivialized their deaths by trying to justify those deaths...comparing them to random murders, car wrecks etc., in the US...You are too stupid and petty to know the truth...and as I said before...you just cannot fix stupid!

I was pulling for the failure of Repub fiscal policies that did not demonstrate sound constitutional thinking.

America will be better off to see how evil it is to even flirt with socialism, even if that means more pain in the short term.
