Yes, they did, and the GOP committees passed NOTHING to regulate Fannie and Freddie, Bush has his own $440 BILLION Fannie and Freddie initiative targeted to "first time homebuyers" aka bad credit risks, the regulators did nothing, about a dozen of McCain's inner campaign circle were Frannie lobbyists, republicans received more PAC money from Fannie/Freddie than republicans although the democrats did really good in that category as well, the bankers lobby pushed both parties HARD for Frannie to take on more of this market.

So yeah, you cannot defend the democrats, but it was a bipartisan effort, led by the crooks at the top of the private companies who lobbied for and got EXACTLY what they wanted from Congress and the WH, and who made their own GD beds and now have lemmings like you defending them and blaming it on the poor and politicians.  You're a sap for believing their drivel.

Yeah, it was all the poor people who bought legislation that enabled the entire chain to make $BILLIONS during the Bubble set up and ignored by Bernanke and the Fed.

Bawnee and Maxinne said everything at Fannie & Freddie was just fine and said the guys at the top were doing "a fantastic job" and the Republicans urging more regulation were on some kind of witch hunt.

Who was wrong?

Its a simple question NoClue, why not grow a pair of balls and answer it?

Its a simple question NoClue, why not grow a pair of balls and answer it?

I've answered it 100 times.  Both sides were wrong, Bernanke was wrong, Bush was wrong, worse still are the private companies and their lobbyists who bought the exact legislation they paid damn good money for, including from the GOP heads of Congress while the bubble was blowing up and did what politicians do.  They spouted some rhetoric that polled well and then did what their handlers paid them to do, which was EXACTLY what their handlers wanted, which was not one GD thing in the Bush era to reign in the people blowing up a catastrophic bubble.

I don't know about your world, but I figured out a while ago that what politicians DO is more important than what they SAY.

You guys act like the President and the MAJORITY PARTY in BOTH houses of Congress (not to mention the Chairman of the Federal Reserve) were a bunch of powerless pansies against a shrill idiot liberal woman and a homosexual with a lisp.  It is actually funny as hell the excuses and pathetic rationalizations you have to come up with to defend your party.

It's about as pathetic as some man saying he can't do something because his wife won't let him out of the house on Saturday when her 'honey do' list isn't done yet.  That's the excuse you're making for the GOP.  It does ring true in some ways - incompetent and worthless is accurate enough of a description for the GOP - I just think it's odd that you guys make it repeatedly and act as if you're smart doing it.

"We wanted to save the financial system from collapse, but Barney wouldn't let us! Wah, wah, he's such a strong boy, we just couldn't do a thing, he's soooo ferocious when he's angry......"  Do you realize how PATHETIC that excuse is?"
