roust, you are one of the worst at that when it comes to religion.  You only believe YOUR god is the only god and that no one else's beliefs or ideas matter.  That is why you and your ilk and the republican party are today...irrelevant!

Thank you. Religion is responsible for all kinds of tragedies in the history of the world. I am not pro-religion. Religion is an opiate for the masses. I am pro-Christ. I confess that it does get rather muddy when we try to impose our desires onto the faith. When in reality the faith is to be us submitting, surrendering, yielding our lives to the will of God. I hope you will join me in that. Read His word everyday and obey what you read.

As I said before....this is NOT a theocracy or Christian only nation and was not founded as such....that is why it is such a GREAT country...freedom of religion...freedom to believe or not believe....the Founding Fathers understood this and that is why they made sure that the USA Constitution rejected the establishment of a state sanctioned religion.
I got no beef with that. You must however understand the context of the day. Prayer and bible reading were not uncommon practices during government session. Christian ideals and practices were tightly woven into the regiments of the government. The ideas of the FF were not to make this an unchristian nation, or to expel Christianity or limit its practice in anyway. Not even close. What was an effort to protect faith from government influence and corruption has turned into something much different. I'm sorry you don't see that. Just as much as I am sorry that many of the republicans don't see their votes being manipulated on matters of faith. As if John McCain would ever be considered a candidate that could represent the body of Christ.

Are you really that big of a ?  Of course I have successfully refuted your statements.  You have yet to provide any official proof that this country is a Christian nation.   Have you?  No. That totally refutes your premise that this is a Christian nation. That is what I have asked you to provide.  You cannot do it.  Not the Constitution...the Declaration of Independence....not a court case ruling ...nothing.  Just words from men who, when the chips were down, founded a government / country which was secular and non-denominational...not jewish...not buddhist...not muslim....and not Christian.

Just because there are more Christians in this country does not make us a Christian country...no matter how bad you want it, or how many times you say it  As Steve Benen so accurately pointed out, "Most of the framers were also men -- does that make our country a "man's nation?"   Nope.

We are a country of diverse religions and beliefs.  That is what makes this country so great.  Yet you and your fanatical right-wingers would change all that because to you....no one else's beliefs matter and have no standing in this world.

Do you think the Jewish have preferences there, kenny?  Yeah...I suspect they do. They are a nation founded as a JEWISH NATION.

You wingnuts continue to quote sources other than official docs that this is a Christian nation...well those you have quoted are mostly dead....I quote a live guy..The current President of the United States of America...

"we have a very large Christian population -- we do not consider ourselves a Christian nation or a Jewish nation or a Muslim nation. We consider ourselves a nation of citizens who are bound by ideals and a set of values."

Live guy quote takes precedence under your dead guys....based on your warped sense of logic.

It is strange that the so-called "good christian" republicans think so highly of the selfishness and greed of an avowed atheist? Ayn Rand???

Good Christian? Bwa-hahahahahaha!

Since you are dug-in and dogmatic in your position, perhaps you can elucidate further from wince these "ideals and set of values" we are all allegedly bound by are derived? Aafterall, it is only fair that you provide an explanation as to what "ideals and set of values" we are going to adopt as well as how the "binding" will take place and where the authority for this "binding" comes from in your sweeping generalized statement. Why don't you condescend and come on back and break it down for those of us that are less erudite than yourself and provide some meat to the bones of your contention on ideals and values.

Yes I do LTC...I think they want to continue their Passover which began last night at sundown....to live peacefully....and to not have any of Hussein's kinfolk lob any bombs into bed with them in the middle of the night...

Steve Benen at The Washington Monthly sums it up pretty well, too

"We have a secular constitution that established a secular government. Our laws separate church from state. No religious tradition enjoys official sanction over any other. Of course we're not a Christian nation or a Jewish nation or a Muslim nation.

The usual argument is that most of the U.S. population is Christian. That's true, but irrelevant. Most of the U.S. population is white -- does that make the United States a "white nation"? We also hear arguments that most of the Founding Fathers were Christians. That's also true, but also irrelevant. Most of the framers were also men -- does that make our country a "man's nation"?"

Blah, blah, blah.

We have whatever the ruling party WANTS us to have. Blah, Blah, Blah.

What did you do - a key word search of this board for "constitution" or something?

I'm not exactly sure when any of the "liberals" said the constitution doesn't matter.  For example, I fully recognize Citizens United might be a correct decision legally, if disastrous in practice.  Similarly, the recent health care bill could very well be unconstitutional, we won't know till the SC decides.  I think the Bush Administration spent eight years crapping on the Bill of Rights, but that doesn't seem to bother conservatives.  They want President OBAMA to have the right to detain them without charge, counsel or trial, wiretap their phones without warrants and sneak and peak their houses and offices.  Figure that out!  I can't.

And nobody has said the ruling party has any special privileges.  The recent bill passed like all legislation passes, with majorities of elected congressmen and women, and a super majority in the Senate, signed by a President who didn't even need the Supreme Court to install him over his opponent.

You are absolutely correct. Those that govern know more than those they govern.

We have whatever the ruling party WANTS or ALLOWS us to have! It is a great day!

What ARE you talking about.  There must be some good stuff on the internet or the radio that I'm missing.  I can't even figure out what straw man you're attacking here....
