The Reagan Tax cuts were more PR than fact. He moved the tax brackets and % up and then turned around and removed the tax deduction for state sales tax, interests on loans and credit cards, moved the threshold for medical expenses UP and removed some exemptions medical expenses.

I agree with that.

One part of the rationale for TRA '86 was to lower rates and broaden the base, which is a good thing, since it makes the tax on competing economic activities similar and distorts economic decision making less when rates are low and broad based.  It didn't last, but it was a good idea, actually.

I'd rather we go back to the time when there wasn't a 20+% point tax advantage to making your living trading stocks versus working a real job.  Of course, it has nothing at all to do with the banks and the wealthy plutocrats funding think tanks and owning Washington, just sound economics, that capital gains and dividends are now sacred and shouldn't be taxed at all, but wages, well, we should tax the daylights out of THAT unproductive activity - working for a living is for uneducated suckers.

Reagan had a very clear view of the big picture and he took care of the most important items during his Presidency.     He did that better than any other President in recent history.      The country was stronger under Reagan than any other time in the past 60 years.

Evidently, the atheist wants us to believe Reagan was a liberal!   FL, thanks for destroying any shred of credibility you may have ever had on this board.

Reagan was a great president who showed us that we could still be proud of America, and that the things that made America work, and made it the most powerful and world changing Nation in history had little to do with government and more to do with the People and the Freedoms they shared. He ws an optimist, and had a great sense of humor, especially about himself, he was indeed a role model and I feel so sad thinking how he is gone now. RR you were a GREAT MAN and one of America's greatest presidents.

atheist (why are you ashamed of that moniker now), since you proclaimed your desire for the US to become a socialist nation, I would expect you to hate Reagan and spread lies about him.

It's always been my experience that anyone who takes such extreme positions like atheism and socialism are social misfits and are screaming for attention.    I am glad we have this forum for you to get some attention from time to time.
