We need him for the SEC stretch coming up. He is one vital cog on the defense.

I heard the same thing this morning on the news as a quote from Coach Kiffin.

Didn't Hightower go down with a knee as well?

I give eLane a big fat F just because he did not know the name of his starting middle LB that "blew out a knee". His name is Nick Reveiz eLane and he has accomplished 100 times more than you ever did as a player.

Why has Monte taken the best player in America and turned him into Eric who?

He got hit directly on the knee by a blocking lineman. Saban said the initial prognosis looked bad. I'm hoping for a bruise. Dont'a is vital.

Word is that Nick is gone for the season and that the knee will need major reconstructive surgery... Ligaments, Meniscus, tendon and cartlidge problems.

I watched the game on the internet and they showed his Dad and mom with him in tears on the sideline after it happend.  It was sad to watch.  Made me once again realize what these kids sacrifice for our entertainment and their dreams.  Hope he recovers 100% and gets back out next season or as soon as he can.

Meniscus and cartilage are the same things.

Articular cartilage caps the ends of the bones (meeting) in the knee while the meniscus is cartilage that sits between the two surfaces, usually what someone means when they refer to a cartilage tear in the knee.  The cartilage is what allows the knee, bathed in synovial fluid to glide smoothly.

A couple of interesting things: Cartilage does not generally have blood supply and due to this cannot heal itself.  Parts of the outer area of the meniscus are vascular but the interior portion is generally avascular and incapable of receiving the nutrients necessary for healing.  Second thing, cartilage sliding on cartilage has about five times less friction than ice gliding on ice.

"Blowing out the knee" usually refers to the unhappy triad including ACL and MCL that it appears Reveiz is experiencing.
