General George Patton used to say, "... a true test of ones character is how one handles adversity."

I'm not advocating Jonathan Crompton being booed, but if he is, then he needs to suck it up
shut his mouth and take it-- just like his father. Football's a man's game and unfortunately at this level, JC's just not a very good player but just as in life you can't strike out at everyone that doesn't like you or that isn't friendly to you or doesn't treat you fairly.

Sports are not just about winning and losing. Its also about learning humility and resiliency. If Crompton's been coached and raised properly he's going to come out of this a better man
and a better person, unfortunately short term this is going to be very uncomfortable for everyone involved.

Hopefully UT folks, will step in and try to insulate the family from some of this criticism before something (really) bad happens.

I agree 100%. If I had took a swing everytime I was boo'd while playing, I would look llike a MMA fighter. Hell, my dad would be the first to rip me a new azz if I played as bad as Crompton and probabaly led most of the boo's...

The sooner Crompton and family are removed from UT football, the better. It's worse than watching a plane crash.

LOL

Ya know, I have tried and tried to like this family, and I honestly think Jon is a good guy and even Janet has good intentions, however the first time I met them (Auburn 04), they and by they I mean David....was at the Gameday set telling the producers that his son was a TN commitment and that the ESPN Gameday guys needed to talk to him and give him an interview.

Not sure what happened, but they did eventually take both Jon and David into Thompson Bolling, just inside the Gameday set.

One thing I seemed to notice was that Jon seemed humble and slightly even embarrassed.  I felt sorry for him that day, and I feel sorry for him going into this Auburn game in 2009.  Sadly, in 5 years he still can't get out of the shadow of his father on an Auburn game week.  I just wonder if his journey will come full circle this week, that is, will he struggle and the "Crompton Experience" will be over for Vol fans everywhere, or will Jon succeed and finally step out of the shadows of his father's obsessiveness?

OS,

I would say he is in Heath's shadow, Lane's shadow, & Ainge's shadow as well.  I hope he makes some plays against Auburn.

Any comments on JC's Dad's behaviour if he is benched for Stephens?
