Yarmouth was on Fox News and then 840 out of Louisville and said everyone's premiums will go up, your taxes will go up, and not everyone will be covered under the House plan.

President Obama said under his health care plan that your cost will not go up...Yarmouth responded to the audio clip played by the host (btw she is a Dem and a Yarmouth supporter) your premiums and cost will not go up as much as projected so therefore your cost will not go up.

You have to hand it to the Dems at least they are consistent...when Republicans were in power and they cut the growth in spending the Dems called that a cut.

Now they call the decrease in the amount your health care cost will go up a cut.

So lets see...under the Democrat Plan your cost will go up (just not as much as "predicted", your taxes will increase, and we are not going to cover everyone) explain to me what this plan is to accomplish

Got to listen to an American missionary who lives in Sweeden talk at length about their health care plan. Very enlightening. It's a scary situation. He said workers are taxed 30% across the board regardless of income level. Plus employers are hit at about the same rate.

Beyond that you are still not garaunteed free care. You still have to pay based on your income. Terrible stories about getting procedures performed, etc.

Good gosh, roust, let's hear a local advocate for our poor talk about our healthcare system.  Talk about "horror" stories!

And if you want to talk about the costs, let's talk about the costs.

Sweden - 9.1% of GDP (about $3,323 per person)
U.S. - 16.0% of GDP (about $7,290 per person).

Already WE here in the U.S. pay MORE of our GDP in taxes ($3,200 in taxes) to fund our current system than they do in Sweden (about $2,800).  That's right, we could take all private contributions and reduce them to NOTHING and still pay more per person than Sweden's supposedly crushing tax burden related to their healthcare system.

If you want to talk about scary quality, fine, but you don't get to make up facts about costs.  There really are numbers out there that show a different story.  I really wish we could honestly debate the trade-offs of the two approaches, but we can't do that as long as misleading costs comparisons are out there hiding the really astounding fact that we pay DOUBLE all those horrible socialist expensive government dominated systems and there is precious little data to indicate we get better results.

BTW, BSF, I'm with you that we need actual cuts in costs - see the above post - but a sustained reduction from near double digit annual price increases that cause costs to double at least every decade to low single digit costs increases in line with wage growth and inflation would be  HUGELY positive outcome.   We should all get down on our knees and thank the Congress that pulled that off if they could also dramatically expand coverage, slow medical bankruptcies, etc.  That's the kind of policy successes we should all dream about.

I don't know if you've followed the news, but small businesses, for example, are expected to see health care premims increase by 10-20% this year, on top of huge increases the year before.

This is what the status quo guarantees:

Quote
About 10% of small businesses are considering eliminating coverage over the next year, up from 3% in 2005, according to a recent survey by National Small Business Association.

That follows earlier declines in coverage, with just 38% of small businesses providing health insurance last year compared to 61% in 1993, according to the trade group. In 2007, 41% offered coverage. A Hewitt Associates survey found that 19% of all companies plan to stop providing health-care benefits in the next three to five years.

Assurant Health, a national health-insurance provider, has recently seen more small businesses canceling coverage. Scott Krienke, senior vice president of product lines, says premiums typically increase 8% to 16% yearly for small businesses, with the smallest firms particularly at risk for large rate increases.

Our health care system is broke and it's way past time we insure all Americans. Both sides can alter stats and projections to make the claim costs will go up or down. They are meaningless.

And how ironic is it that your only concern is the cost of the plan. The same people who got us into a senseless war in Iraq at a cost of $2 BILLION per week are suddenly concerned about saving money. You hypocrites.
