All extra curricular activities schools were ended.
The Grove City HS is located about 4 miles from the Oakhurst Country Club and it was highlighted on ESPN.  4 HS in the school zone..... This bedroom suburban coimmunity is outside of Columbus and is notoriosly republican and frequently turns down tax increases.. The school board just recently had an anti tax activist elected to the board and will take office soon.  Voters were asked to provide more operating money after turning down two previous requests. The four-year, 8.3-mill levy on the ballot will raise $21 million and cost the owner of a $100,000 home an additional $254 a year

Without operating capital the SB laid off all coaches and ended all extra curricular activities. Levy19 was put on the ballot and in a very close vote it passed

The staff was re hired and activity continued after it passed

All you Conservatives is this type of cuts acceptable to keep taxes low?

Pardon the pun, but this is EXACTLY the kind of bureaucratic "grandstand play" that have gotten us in this mess.  When cities and counties get in trouble the FIRST cut they make is to police and fire and then us subsequent public outrage to justify tax increases. In a word this kind of bovine scatology goes on everywhere.

Are they seriously trying to say they couldn't cut something else? Say, administrative salaries and expense accounts?

I daresay there are more than a few six-figure salaries in the school district's administration and those should be the FIRST, not the last, to go.  To put parents and students through this shows that these so-called "educators" don't give sh*t about the PUBLIC they supposedly serve.

To justify high admin salaries in the private sector it was explained to America you have to pay HIGH SALRIES to attract the skill and talent to run multi million $$ businesses. Is a school district not a multi Million$$ business   ?

Again, just get them some of that China-Debt Democrat gold pot stimulus dollars slush fund. Don't you remember that debate when we borrowed all that China money with the passage of that stimulus bill. You were on the board explaining to all of us stupids what a great thing it was and how it was going to make sure we did not have problems such as the one above. What happened to that hope and change? Is it W's fault. Can we blame him for this as well?

$300,000,000.00 for my moon face corrupt New Orleans Democrat family vote,.. For a fistful of dollars
