Memphis University School dominates the large private school division and White Station is schooling Maryville in the large public division.  Will it up hold up or does Quarles have a rabbit left in his hat?

Interesting...

Maryville got their butt kicked.

Colleges should take a big look at Anthony Hayes and Julian Burton. Those are the best players Maryville has seen this year.

Even though Maryville lost. I thought Quarles had his best coaching effort this year. This was his least talented team and they still made it to Cookeville.

Ron, are you of the same opinion as I am that WS would whip Alcoa's , too?  Obviously, the MHS team Alcoa played in week 1 is much different than in December.  I wasn't overly impressed with Alcoa Friday.  I believe both WS and MUS would beat them.

WS was like combining the rosters of Maryville and Alcoa.

WS doesn't have anything like the feeder system AHS and MHS have either.  I bet if you actually looked at the students and situations at that school, you wouldn't see this great injustice done to the Rebels.  BTW, how concerned with enrollment when MHS was within a classroom of students from being in the next classification all these years, thus, being the BIGGEST school in the classification they were dominating?  Was that fair to all those smaller schools?

First of all, I thought the City of Cookeville and TTU did an excellent job putting on the state championship games.  I'd much rather see the games in Cookeville than Murfreesboro.  Plenty of parking and a very nice stadium.

I was surprised how few fans traveled from Memphis for the game.  White Station's side was only about 1/12 full plus their band.  Maryville had their usual large contingent of fans with most of them staying until late in the 4th quarter.

As for the game it was all about speed.  WS's secondary seldom let Maryville receivers get yardage after a catch.  Julian Burton reminds me of some of the speedsters on Florida's team.  If he can qualify academically, some SEC schools should go after him.

I really enjoyed watching Maryville play this season.  They far exceeded my expectations.

I noticed the same thing last year when KCHS played Memphis Mitchell.

Again, there's a HUGE difference between a Memphis City School and an Alcoa or Maryville in terms of resources, including fan involvement.  The city schools there are about like the privates here in that, unless you have a kid at that school, you're not the least bit concerned, at least not to the point of going to a game.

Feeder system? Just what kind of delusional world do you live in. One of my very good friends is the middle school head coach at Maryville. It's just middle school ball.

The play on 100 yard grass field. You make it sound like WS was out there in potato sacks and leather helmets.
