They weren't even better than last year's team.    Last year's team had a much better offensive line (started 2 freshmen this year) and last year's defense was by far a better defense.   Plus, Browning was not fully recovered from his broken leg until the season had started and he never got in a good rhythm with his receivers.

This was a good Farragut team but there have been a couple of other Farragut teams better than this one in recent years.

Let's put it this way.....before Maryville thumped Farragut twice it was on of their better teams in years. That statement came from two of their coaches.

Maybe the coaches who came over from Maryville but last year's team had a much better defense and this year's team did not advance any further than the last 3 or 4 Admiral teams have.

Sorry if the facts get in the way here but East Tennessee HS football was as weak as it's been in many years.   Oak Ridge, DB, Catholic, Bearden, and Ooletewah were all down and Farragut was weaker on both lines from last year and the QB didn't fully return from his broken leg.

I was surprised how few fans traveled from Memphis for the game.  White Station's side was only about 1/12 full plus their band.  Maryville had their usual large contingent of fans with most of them staying until late in the 4th quarter.

They were from Memphis and they were afraid to leave their homes unattended.....

When i watched the game, I only recall them letting 11 on the field at a time.

If you actually want to know, Alcoa dresses about 100 kids for football. If WS is only dressing 49, then that has to do with coaches discretion.

That's just comical.  They dressed 10 freshman on a 49 man squad and you think the coach just chose to bring those players????  He has 49 on the roster because 49 kids went out for football.

Out of Alcoa's 82 on the roster, 32 were Freshmen.  Who in the hell did they NOT dress?  Were the other 18 girls?

There was a reason they did not advance. Get use to it.

Hey Joe, I apologize for every doubting you and your famous Maryville High School team.   MHS is obviously the greatest program in the history of modern football.     It is apparent you were robbed on Saturday night because there is no way White Station could have beaten you any other way.

In fact, every high school team in east Tennessee had the best team they have ever had this year.   Y'all were just that much better than everyone else.

There is a meeting tonight to see if Maryville can't get into the Southeastern Conference.   Afterall, y'all have a great 8th grade class coming up next year and no one even scored on them.

I am realistic to know that there will never be a 74 game winning streak again at Maryville. Maryville was just that much better than everyone in 4A during that time. Maryville was blessed with some damn good players at that time.

I feel like as long as George Quarles and his staff stay at Maryville they will compete for championships.

Alcoa would match up better with White Station. But! Julian Burton would be too much for them. That guy was the most explosive player Maryville has seen in years.

Ron, I definitely agree with that.   I also believe Maryville would have won some championships in the old 5A but not nearly as many as they did.
