The Football coaches are meeting this week in NYC, word is that Kelly will have official interview for the ND job today or tomorrow. Word leaking out is that if he takes the job he may not coach Cincy in their bowl game........

It also seems their was/is a lot of smoke surrounding Harbaugh and the ND job, is he the fallback candidate for the job.

I am suprised Kelly has not been better received by the ND fanbase but their are real mixed emotions surrounding this hire. he is from Boston does the BC vs ND hate/rivalry run that deep?

Another factor is Harbaughs ties to Michigan, he is getting the snif test but will he be interviewed? Is his hard persona being tossed out as a smoke screen to show the Irish Nation what they could get if the Kelly hires does not happen?

Would ND hire a Michigan guy?

If Kelley signs with Notre Dame, he will not coach the bowl game.  How embarrassing would it be for a depleted and homeward bound Notre Dame look with Kelley out there coaching as Notre Dame sat at home.  Plus, Notre Dame gets what they want and that is part of their problems--greed.

You think the players of Notre Dame were told to vote against bowl-eligible ND playing in a bowl this year?

Would a Michidgan guy take the job?      I agree with what Kirk Herbstreit said on GameDay last Sat: Notre Dame has not been a major program since the early 90s.

If Kelly is Notre Dame's guy, they will not let him coach against Urban Meyer in the bowl game.  As image conscious as they are, they will not risk their new coach suffering an ugly loss to a man that was offered a job and snubbed them.

ND ought to be used to suffering ugly losses!!

K,

Did you see where Jimmy Clausen was 16-18 as a starter?  I guess ND didn't want that scrolling across the screan during a ND bowl game.

I was told I was nuts both here and at a ND board, that might be true but not on this subject.

Edsall is interviewing today and I understand Harbaugh also gets his interview today. Kelly said he is "meeting" with ND may also interview today or tomorrow according to the NYT and NBC Conneticut

Where's the diversity?   Is Notre Dame going to thumb its nose at the African-American community?   PV, you should be outraged over this blatant display of racism.

The answer is yes because he won't take the ND job. Urban Meyer will end up with the ND job.

I have mentioned that Kelly has a "past", well here is some of it.

He defended players involved in a murder and this could haunt the guy as far as getting an opprotunity with the Irish. Their is more floating around but verification is tough...

Lou Holtz was on Rivals radio this morning and he said that he thought Brian Kelly had been offered the job, and they are now just working out the details.  He said unless something unforseen happened, Kelly would be the next coach of the Irish.

Herbstriet is crazy.  The may not be a major program in terms of winning right now, but they are THE most high profile program in college football and there isn't a close second.  How many other schools can play a game in San Antonio against a horrible Washington State team and have it televised on ABC in prime time?

Herbstriet needs to spend more time in the coaches' office, for real. His info is usually way off base.
