I wonder how long ago the votes were turned in?

The award is "Athlete of the Decade" NOT "Highest Morals of the Decade". Tiger was the winner because he was without question the greatest athlete of the decade and no one else is even a close second. The fact he has no morals should have zero impact on the award. 1 out of 3 voters chose Tiger. Pretty unanimous if you ask me regardless of when the votes were cast.

Over half were turned in after the incident and disclosures.

If you're going to be the best at something, you should at least attempt to have some sort of moral standards instead of pretending that you do when it's really a farce.

You have to be pretty athletic to keep 14 girlfriends and a wife "happy".

Excellent point.   Seems to me that his "on the golf course" accomplishments are even more amazing now that we realize how much he had going on off the course!!

Seriously, how bad must your life be when John Daly is trying to reach out and console you and give you advice?

I wont argue against that but that is not one of the criterior for this award. This is strictly for what went on inside the ropes not in his personal life. If you want to judge him as a human being thats one thing. However, this award is about his accomplishments inside the ropes. People that want to mix the 2 are usually only pushing an agenda. I can't see any other athlete that accomplished more in their chosen sport than Tiger did in his and thats why he was a runaway winner. It was a no brainer before his issues came out and it's a no brainer after.

You can get into the semantics of the word "athlete", but in terms of "Sports" competition, nobody could hold a candle to Tiger.  Even without the team rings to back it up, I would certainly have put Peyton high in the discussion.  What he's done over the last 10 years is probably unmatched by a QB in terms of individual statistics.

As for Tiger, I hope he does get divorced.  If she's already filed, he needs to get right back to the golf course.  Now that he can focus on playing golf and not having to worry about hiding his extra-curricular activities, he can relax and focus on his game.  Then, after the tournaments, relax with his blonde of choice and prepare for the next event.  He will become unbeatable once again, smash every record Jack ever held, and will probably wind up the winner of this award again in 2019 (if the world doesn't end in December 2012).

Why? I've never known Tiger to portray himself as some sort of high character person.
As far as I know he follows a pagan religion, cusses in front of women and children without any regard to what he says, and plays really good golf. I don't understand what all the fuss is about. The only difference in Tiger and most men out there is Tiger had the means to bag as many women as he could. I wonder how many guys pointing the finger, are having their own little flings, or secret life with porn. Is what Tiger did an immoral thing? Absolutely. Don't get me wrong, what Tiger did was reprehensible. But why in the world should I expect more of someone who swings a golf club than anyone else? I don't. I hope this collapse of his life, leads him out of darkness and into light.

I would never consider a golfer as greatest athlete, except for perhaps Tiger. He is actually physically fit. There are way too many golfers who look like they've taken too many trips to the hospitality room.
Most dominant in his given sport? Yes.

Ain't that the truth. But he's been down that road before, actually seemed to embrace that image. I saw that comment by him and wondered if he's truly turned his life around.

If it's proven Tiger was on roids, would people still felt the same about him winning the award?
