Andy Staples calls it an "upgrade."

Back away from your message boards, Volunteers. Forget Dooley's record at Louisiana Tech. It shouldn't take long before you realize you've upgraded.

Hie thee over and read the rest.

OK, so, I'm a farm animal.

Sue me.

Well Hamilton and Kiffin finally accomplished something at UT, they dumbed down our expectations!!

Good read, it is a shock to the average joe blow UT Fan  that the rest of America has been laughing at us for the last 13 months.

Quote
Dooley didn't make many promises Friday, but he did glance over his shoulder at General Robert Neyland's seven maxims before he spoke. Kiffin never once took part in the traditional pregame recitation of the legendary coach's maxims. Presumably, Kiffin only aped Pete Carroll's traditions. Dooley, whose father, Vince, started his share of traditions at Georgia, understands his fellow Southerners are sometimes sentimental for good reason.

"I'm glad to see I believed in everything up there," Dooley said. "Thank God the general knew what he's doing. He was something special."

Unlike his predecessor, Dooley understands each school has its own culture. "I said from the beginning, this isn't my program," Dooley said. "It's been here a long time. It's going to be here long after I am. The worst thing you can do is come do a canned setup anywhere you go."

I'm pretty sure they were laughing at us back when we were having losing seasons and losing to Vanderbilt and Wyoming.

Nice to read something positive.  The staff for me is huge.  We need some good recruiters and impressive coordinators.  Then I may call this an upgrade.

Is Shoneys' really Lane Kiffin?     If not, he sure is carrying a lot of water for him.  Of course, he would support someone like LK, wouldn't he?

C'mon Knowledge. I don't carry water for anybody. I just despise hypocrisy. People who praised Kiffin and his staff last week and ripped them this week are hypocrites. People who rip the personal life of Kiffin and give Pearl a pass are hypocrites. People who blame the state of UT football on Kiffin and give Fulmer a pass are hypocrites. People who rip the integrity of Kiffin for leaving UT 3 weeks before NSD but have no qualms about Dooley leaving LT 2 weeks before NSD are hypocrites. People who rip some coaches as being selfish and not being loyal to UT guys and give Kippy a pass are hypocrites.

Well, he might not be Kiffin but I'm beginning to think he's at least David Reaves!

My bet is they were laughing and enjoying our misfortunes and enjoying our failure. That is a different laugh than thinking that we might just be the most stupid group of people in the United States because we hired Kiffin and Ogeron in the first place.

So why did Haslem and Hamilton hire Kiffin?

Major NCAA sanctions or not, I would guess Kiffin will win something significant at USC before Dooley does at UT.

I'm sure the AD at LA Tech is well prepared to hire a replacement in case Dooley bolted.  ...Oh wait...

Well if he is David Reaves, I want to be his agent.  He has alot of UT money coming his way and a small commission taken from his earnings would be a nice pay check.

Seriously Knowledge, why are you guys being so hard on Reaves.  If you check who recruited the commitments you have, Reaves gets credit for several key guys.  Marques Pair, a 3* O Lineman from Sumter, SC, Tyler Bray, a 4* QB from California, and Corey Miller, a 4* DE from Duncan, SC and he also had Brandon Willis' commitment until Kiffin left.  Reaves, Gran, Ogeron, Chaney, Thompson, and Creg all had about the same amount of guys commit to this class.  They all carried equal weight with Thompson and Orgeron slightly more productive.  Looks like he worked pretty hard recruiting for the Vols and his job was more difficult than the rest IMO since he was covering a territory he use to handle for a school in the same division in the same conference.
