BIG bump today:

Eminense Grise David Obey (CPUSA - Pelosi) is stepping down.

Quote
In a major blow to Democrats, House Appropriations Committee Chairman David Obey has told close associates that he will not seek reelection. An announcement of his plans is expected as early as Wednesday.

The Wisconsin Democrat faces tough poll numbers at home, but until Tuesday night his staff had insisted he was running aggressively and had hired campaign staff. But a person close to him confirmed the decision to POLITICO Wednesday and said Obey was preparing to make a statement.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), a close friend, was informed by Obey of his decision Wednesday morning. A press conference has been called for 1 p.m. and Obey staff indicated that he would announce his plans then.

I understand John Boehner's decorator has already been measuring the windows in Madame DeFarge's office.

Translation - He is so far behind in he polls in his liberal district for supporting the Socialist Obama Agenda he is giving it up because he knows he will be politically pulverized at the ballot box. Time for the extreme left to start blaming it on the Tea Bag movement.

Nice

As has been pointed out before (I see a pattern of having to repeatedly point out stuff to LTC), a lot of the repubs are not seeking re-election because they are running for other jobs. The dems are not seeking re-election because they are getting there asses beat in the polls.

Actually 19 are retiring....the number jumps to 20 if you count Florida's Mario Diaz-Balart, who is retiring from one House seat to run for another.

Granted, not all retirements are equal. Those in districts that reliably elect only one party are certainly less of an issue than those in competitive districts. And it is true that, for now, there are more Democrats retiring from competitive districts than Republicans.

Still, as of this moment Republicans have more open seats to defend than Democrats in both the House and the Senate -- and that’s not at all what we saw in 1994.

And still the dems are getting   in the polls. A conservative is running against and beating Obey in Wisconsin loonland.

The gavel has come down, pun intended.

Two-thirds of the GOP retirees, 12, are running for higher office, a sign, party strategists say, that Republicans view their party as ascendant and are leaping at opportunities.

SAS,

Think about the legislative votes of this scoundrel. He has cast the majority of his votes in congress to inflict suffering and pain on the nation. In his last term he votes for a Democrat Ted Kennedy Socialized Medicine Bill that if funded will end the Republic as we know it simply because he dislikes the country. What a vindictive and petty small man.  Futrue generations of Americans will reconnoiter on what this congress did to our Republic and look at this man in shame and disrepute. It is good to see him broomed into the dustbin of infamous Democrats by way of the ballot box.

Shame on you for the yoke of debt you have
passed  on to future generations of Americans
not even born by your votes in congress.

Furthermore, can this still somehow be blamed on Reagan, Rush, or Right-wingers?

Ah, Ronald Reagan. The new old boogieman.
