This win once again points out how poor an X's and O's coach Cal is in comparison to Pearl. Cal can recruit but he just can't coach at the level of the elite talent he brings into any program he has been at. He can buy the elite talent but he doesn't know what to do with it. Do you folks actually think he can ever win a NC?

Plumber, it's his M.O. Just look at the memphis team that choked away a 8 point lead with about 1:30 left for a national championship. Squidward was choking his azz off. He got his azz outcoached by Self just like he did everytime he faces Pearl. Pearl has beaten the 2 best teams that Squidward ever had with a bunch of misfits. There is no question who the best coach in the SEC is and with Pearl bringing in a top 5 class next year, things sure do look good for UT basketball.

You guys can't be serious.  Comparing Pearl and Cal based on today's game is nuts.  To put it in context, It was a big game in front of the home crowd for the Vols while UK has the SEC regular season championship pretty much wrapped up.  They are still going to be a #1 seed barring some kind of huge collapse.

I think Cal has done a great job this year with a team made up of mostly freshman.   I don't know of anyone who expected the Cats to be 27-2 at the end of February.

Cal does a great job buying players.  He also does a good job getting them to play together and hard most of the time.  X's and O's are what you use in the game Tic-Tac-Toe to Cal.

So I guess all those times that Billy G beat Pearl's  Billy G was the better coach?

Kind of hard to argue with that.   Cal had 4 lottery picks out there on the floor against Pearl, who truthfully, probably didn't have a player who will end up in the NBA.   Hopefully a couple of the current Vols will prove me wrong, but there's no question about the level of talent that Cal has.  The same could be said when Cal was at Memphis as well.

Road game or not, 36 hrs. or 36 days, a team with 4 NBA players should handle a team of collegiate players pretty easy.  The only thing that could possibly keep that from happening is a H.C.

To the defense of Cal, and i'm not sure why i'm even trying to offer a defense to the guy, but i suppose it's possible he might expect the extreme level of talent he has, to be able to win without much coaching.

EXCELLENT.

TD,

I think CalKA$H is comfortable in his own skin as they say.  He knows his coaching is not going to be a positive at the end of a game that means something.

Hate on Cal if you want, but he took a NIT program and he's 27-2 with a SEC championship all but locked up.

Kind of ironic that TT is defending the Cheating Fulmer of Basketball.

I was defending Coach Cal, not Steve Fisher.
