It has been said that you take someone broke, give them the lottery and they will be broke again. Take all the money from the rich and they will make it back again. Sports is the same. Losers will find a way to be losers again even when they have prosperity. Winners will come back from a down period and win again. Tenn has several examples of ruining prosperity while a program like Alabama comes back from a down turn to win again. Losers are losers and will always find a way to lose. Tenn fans are bridesmaids and will always find a way to be bridesmaid. That is why they fired the most successful baseball and football coaches. That is why they tried to mess up Ray Mears in the day (read his book as well as Tom Mattingly's stuff). Here we are again. The best times of Tenn baseball and football turned back into bridesmaids. I guess that is your history and you will always repeat it.

I guess Phil won the lottery in 1992.

Delmonico and UT baseball was more like a scratch off winner.

won the lottery??? That is soooo stupid even for an idiot. You build a team to win a National Title in 6 years when the school had never had one is not a lotto winner. Being the winning-est baseball coach in UT history is not a lotto winner. That would be Roy Williams. He did less with more than anyone in KU history. Than he inherited the best team in America at UNC. His true colors are showing. I heard your life partner say you TT can do more with so much less. Good for you. Small men need action to.

You would know from experience sounds like.

Phil found an acorn in 98 but nothing else of substance unless you're counting runner-ups and woulda coulda shoulda's.He left your program in shambles and walked off with $6 mil and you still drink his bath water. What a douche!!!!!!!!!!!!

Phil won the lottery when he signed Grant, Manning, Wilson Lewis, Henry, Goodrich, Price, Martin, etc. He signed them, he did not inherit them. Without him you never sign this talent, so we won the lottery.

He inherited a program that was an easy sell to those type of players.   Manning came to UT because of Cut (and Ole Miss on probation)  Coleman, Grant, and Lewis were lured to UT by Rodney Garner.  Wilson was a in-state guy and would have probably come to UT regardless.  It helps recruiting a lot when Bama, Auburn, and Ole Miss are on probation at the same time LSU and UGA suck out loud.  I think DaVols analogy about the lottery is spot on.  Phil found a way to lose it all even when he had prosperity.  Good for him that he was able to bank a few mil in the process.

You're welcome.
