No access to healthcare???

<< < (5/5)

NCVol:
I don't think that's quite fair - sometimes the conservatives advocate deporting them so they'll be denied coverage in their own country and die there!

Seriously, that's the question of course - if we deny illegals access to insurance, how do we treat them when they get sick or hurt and show up at the hospital?  Or do we actually deny them care and let them die on the streets?  What exactly is the "conservative" solution?  I've said my own is to fine any employer who hires illegals a punitive amount (say $10,000 per illegal) and use the funds to cover a pool for the illegals that can compensate hospitals/physicians for their unreimbursed expenses.

Of course, that recognizes that the real scofflaws are the employers who enjoy low wage, disposable labor while shifting the social costs of their employment onto the rest of us.  The republics prefer the "free market" approach which results in private benefits, public costs and losses.

Either I am not being clear or you guys really are, like Emmanuel said, f**king retards.

If they are made LEGAL they ARE covered. Correct? If they are made legal, what will that do the job picture?

I cannot understand the problem with stopping ILLEGAL activity. If you did that, the ILLEGAL aliens wouldn't be here in the first place to need healthcare.

I'm not sure if they're made "legal" they're covered.  Are resident aliens (as opposed to citizens) covered?  I don't know the answer.  And the point was, OK, they're illegal and not covered - now what do YOU propose if you don't want them legalized and want them ineligible for insurance coverage?  The ER as primary care doc, as is the case now?  It's A plan, but not a good one, as we know..

And I agree about the illegal activity - fine the dog crap out of the employers who are privatizing the profits and shoving the costs onto YOU and the flow of illegals will stop.  Why don't conservatives embrace this simple, common sense method of dealing with the magnet that brings illegals here?  Is it because your propaganda outlets are funded by moneyed interests who LOVE illegal labor, since they keep the entire manual labor wage scale low, and LOVE that you and me pay the social costs while the benefits accrue to those private companies.

Private profits, social costs - the goal of all good "conservative" and republic economic policy.
...

Just to be clear.  Conservatives talk all the time about the "rule of law" and "lawbreakers" when referring to the illegals who are here, mostly working, but without the proper documentation.  They HATE illegal activity!!!!!

So why is it that the ILLEGAL activity of hiring an undocumented worker isn't a big deal to you guys.  It NEVER comes up.  Bush literally halted all interior enforcement except for raids put on for show.  So the "conservatives" look the other way when employers engage in ILLEGAL hiring of undocumented workers, but will protest and yell and scream about the "illegal" workers filling those low wage jobs.

Why the different treatment between the CRIMINAL employers and the criminal employees - the undocumented workers.  If not for the criminal employers, those criminal undocumented workers would go back home to Mexico or wherever....
