Those folks in Iowa City take their basketball seriously, so they will probably attempt (again) to throw money at Pearl. Question becomes, does Pearl listen and do we go thru another kubuki dance with Pearl and the Hawkeyes ?

Hammy sure can't afford to lose Pearl at this time.  Given the way Hammy negociates contracts, Pearl would be a fool not to play Iowa against UT and get the Vols to pay out the to keep him around.  I don't think he is looking to leave or wants to, even with his ties to Iowa.

Iowa can not outspend UT for Pearl, they do not scare me as a school that  can swoop in and hire him away. Besides as bad as Hambone is at throwing money into a black hole when it comes to hiring football coaches, let UT spend some money on Pearl. Two schools scare me University of Miami and UCONN. I doubt Miami ever has a desire to try and build a big time hoops program. UCONN can offer Pearl mega bucks especially in endorsement deals to bring him to Storrs, but once he ever takes the job the bad part is actually having to live in that hell hole. Money cannot buy everything!!

Poor Iowa just has poor timing, if they could have waited a few years before they made the Alford hire or unloaded him sooner they could have given pearl his big break....

I dont know if I agree with you about Iowa PV.  Remember the ungodly amount of money they spent on Ferentz a few years ago?

If Pearl leaves, Hamilton better go with him.

Iowa is the Big Ten version of TN...not really that important but seem to think of themselves higher than they actually are.

Iowa's a nice job, in a better conference but by itself its not better than the Tennessee job.

Plumber, you have been trying to run Pearl off to UCONN since the day he got here. You say the same thing, every year. I have one problem with your fears...UCONN has a coach and he has signed a huge extension. There is one school that will get Pearl if they ask and thats BC. Until they come calling, I aint the least concerned with Pearl going anywhere.

Pearl will not be interested in Iowa. There's nothing to worry about.

The problem with my fears is that I can garantey you that when Calhoun retires UCONN will approach him as a target for the coaching position. I can almost say the same thing as far as Pearl, he  will talk to them. Their is a relationship between the Lawyer he has used to negotiate for him and UCONN. I know that Pearl because of the Addidas package now uses an agent group, but he uses that same lawyer to negotiate with his agent.

As for BC I doubt they would even match UT as far as pay. Hell last year their HC made less than 1 million total package. Hell Calhoun made less than Pearl but I think he got a bump up. But his money is made in outside endorsements that UCONN allows and UT doesn't. Those boosters up there broker that.

I mention the Miami job based on a PTI interview he gave awhile back addressing some offers and approaches made by other schools to him. He mentioned how BillyD stayed at FL because of his family and his ties to the community. He said some times jobs money and value are different to some coaches because of family needs. He mentioned how his parents were in Miami and how access to that area would be important to him. Our local press JimmyH mentioned it on his show and I talked with a soon to be radio host and sports writer who heard the same interview. You ask yourself if Miami really wanted to build a program would they approach him and toss out some money at him?

Then you find out that Shalala has ties to both Pearl and Kelly from ND because of their ties to the political network in Boston and that Pearls family is friends with her. That she has ties as the  former Chancellor of the University of Wisconsin and you go huh!!
