Iowa's a nice job, in a better conference but by itself its not better than the Tennessee job.

http://www.suntimes.com/sports/colleges/2098575,CST-SPT-herb12.article

Just a note, Iowa is in the Big Ten. Better conference   If the SEC wins the National Title that will be 3 of the last 5. I do not see that in Big Ten land.

Pearl has a once in a lifetime recruiting class coming and if Selby comes it will be listed as one of the best ever. Bambie will never leave for Iowa. Pearl's kids are here in school. He is king here. Stop worrying about Iowas.

UCONN is the worry. Not now but in 4-5 years. By than the kids are done with school. This recruiting class is gone and Calhoun will retire. By than Tenn fans being the pessimists that they are will be tired of him (it will be 10 years) and want to run off the winningest basketball coach as they did the baseball and football coach. Short term relax.

Iowa is not even a lateral move at best......he might use them for some contract issues....but Iowa threw Coach Pearl under the bus during the Deon Thomas ( Illinois buying the car )

Calhoun just agreed to a 4-year extension. Besides, I'd worry more about BC than I would UConn.

He isn't going to Iowa.  That's all I have to say about that.

Why would Bruce Pearl leave the top basketball program in the country for a 2nd rate program?

I would not worry about BC on any level. UCONN is the one. As I said, not now but in 4-5 years. That is because Calhoun will be gone, the recruiting class will be gone, his kids will have graduated, and UT fans will be tired of all of that winning. BC cannot pay him close to what UCONN or UT can. Prying Bambie out of here will be very hard.

MRM, the thing about BC is that they don't pay. He was on the team as a walk on and later the screaming eagle mascot in the suit   He is a BC grad. His family moved to Miami and the kicker about Iowa is that he spent 6 years there and lists ex coach Davis as his mentor.....

I think he loves it here and will not leave.
He seems really sincere about that.
No way he leaves for Iowa or Miami.
Tenn is a way better program than those two.

Coach Pearl has worked 5 hard years for UT and I would say he has WAY MORE invested here at UT than anywhere else.

Ernie Gruneld is Coach Pearl's mentor and he is a Tennessee guy.  He hired him after a long, far-reaching search by Mike Hamilton.

Coach Pearl truly enjoys being in Knoxville as does his family.  With all due great respect to Coach Mears, Coach Pearl will be the UT basketball legend here when he leaves no matter the circumstances.  He can write his own ticket here.  Need proof?  He goes across the court to hug Big Jim Haslam and Natalie after each big win.

There is not a more beautiful collegiate basketball palace and practice facility overall than Thompson-Boling Arena--including size and cash flow.

And by a stroke of bad luck, both of them have players that like to pack heat.   Perhaps Ernie should seek some advice from Hamilton on how to run the Wizards.  Hammy couldn't possibly do any worse.

Ah the annual let's pick a school, to put the Pearl's going to leave to, or Pearl's going to be courted by, routine, and as usual alot of folks jump right in on.   About the only response i read that hold's any logic whatsoever is the post by DaVols.

Pearl isn't going anywhere right now considering he still has a kid in high school, and a new wife who's a Tennessean heart and soul.  That said, in another 4-5 years of dealing with this UT fan base which is as fickle as any fans of any school anywhere, i can definitely see Pearl finally saying enough already.

I'll never forget Tony Basilio screaming bloody murder for an entire day, bait and switch, bait and switch, we've had the bait and switch put to us and it makes me sick, all because of one early season road loss.  And he's not even just a fan only, but the freaking local radio host.  I have no doubt that after a few more years of that kind of crap, that yes Pearl will probably be ready to move on.
