it is the end of the country as we know it.

For all his faults...G.W. Bush never ever attempted something like this.  To never vote on the original bill is a pure rejection of our representative republic and is unconstitutional.

I'm waiting for the leftist on this board to rail against this unprecedented abuse of power, but they won't because they are liberals first and Americans second.  In reality they really do hate this country.

I could not agree more BSF. It creates a M-A-J-O-R constitutional crisis of epic proportion.

Come on folks! Is this the best amongst us?

1. You're the same buffoon who just last week declared health care reform was dead.

2. George W. Bush not only tried something like this, he did it ... more than once.

3. When A Republican uses reconciliation it is business as usual. When a Dem does EXACTLY the same thing, reconciliation suddenly becomes an "abuse of power."

Hypocrites every damn one of you.

It is strange that the so-called "good christian" republicans think so highly of the selfishness and greed of an avowed atheist? Ayn Rand???

Hey bsf...regardless of the process...they still have to have 216 votes....

This is the Slaughter solution

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/03/15/AR2010031503742_pf.html

Pelosi is going to try to pass the bill without the members voting on it...you only do that if you don't have 216 votes.  Talk about power grab this is the absolute abuse of power.  This is the clearest example that the Leftist on this board don't really care about government abuse of power that they feigned during the Bush administration.  They just hated Bush and nothing more.

Actually it should probably be called the Dreier Doctrine, named after a repugnacrap.....or the Repugnicrap Solution...since it has been used by them more than the dems......so if it is the end of the country as we know it...blame the repugnacraps!
for their total abuse of the system...from their obstructionism to their excessive use of the dreier doctrine!

Quote
The Slaughter Solution? Another name might be the Dreier Doctrine.

Don Wolfensberger, director of the Woodrow Wilson Center's Congress Project (and former staff director of the House Rules Committee), took a look at this whole business of self-executing rules a few years back. He argues that it's not at all unusual in these partisan times for the House majority to use this convoluted and heavy-handed parliamentary tactic to get a bill through.

Quote
When Republicans took power in 1995, they soon lost their aversion to self-executing rules and proceeded to set new records under Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.). There were 38 and 52 self-executing rules in the 104th and 105th Congresses (1995-1998), making up 25 percent and 35 percent of all rules, respectively. Under Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.) there were 40, 42 and 30 self-executing rules in the 106th, 107th and 108th Congresses (22 percent, 37 percent and 22 percent, respectively). Thus far in the 109th Congress, self-executing rules make up about 16 percent of all rules.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A43045-2004Jul11.html

Is this a good policy?  Not really, but when the repugnacraps REFUSE to govern, then something has to be done.....and this may be the way to do it.

Pelosi isn't doing a damn thing the Republicans haven't used countless times when they were in control.

Your hypocrisy knows no bounds.

House may try to pass Senate health-care bill without voting on it

Instead, Pelosi (D-Calif.) would rely on a procedural sleight of hand: The House would vote on a more popular package of fixes to the Senate bill; under the House rule for that vote, passage would signify that lawmakers "deem" the health-care bill to be passed.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/03/15/AR2010031503742_pf.html

Can the American people do this also by "deeming" the whole lot in Washington as "unemployed"?

LTC...did you even read the articles you cited to?  No where in those articles was the "self-executing" rule used to pass a bill passed by the Senate in the House without voting on it first.  The "self-executing" was used to limited amendments and other procedural items.  That has nothing to do with what we are discussing here.

No wonder you a liberal, American-hating, fascist;  you can't even read what you cite or if you did you have no reading comprehension.

You just cite talking points with no real logical thought.
