Thunderin' Jayzus! Didja think I was dead!?!?!

After the discovery of the rigged SUV in Times Square over the weekend we were treated to legions of CPUSA apparatchiks chin-pulling government officials and their Drive-By Media mouthpieces regaling us with their learned opinion that the bomber was "a white guy, probably upset over *insert Obama policy f*ckup* and with obvious links to the Tea Parties."

Uber-RINO Hizzoner Michael Bloomberg spoke for the Politburo:

Quote
Bloomberg later told CBS Evening News Anchor Katie Couric that the suspect behind the bombing attempt could be a domestic terrorist angry at the government who acted alone.

"If I had to guess 25 cents, this would be exactly that. Homegrown, or maybe a mentally deranged person, or somebody with a political agenda that doesn't like the health care bill or something. It could be anything," he said.

The man, Faisal Shahzad, 30, was taken into custody at Kennedy Airport on board an Emirates flight to Dubai, according to the airline and an early-morning statement Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. delivered at the Justice Department in Washington.

Two other passengers were removed from the plane, Emirates said, but it was unclear whether they were connected with the bombing attempt.

Somehow, I doubt Mr. Shahzad was at the Tax Day Tea Party Rally in DC.

Why do public officials so reflexively dissemble and misdirect every time? In the end, all they're doing is undermining confidence in the integrity of their own institutions. That doesn't seem a smart move.

Indeed.

Yannow, the sad thing is that Les Nessman of "WKRP" is/was a better journalist than ANYONE working currently in the Drive-By media.

Hell, for that matter Otis Campbell is/was better qualified for either the media or to be Mayor of New York.

It reminds me of the profile given by some on this forum in regards to the "murderer" of the KY census worker.

Anybody know if this is being classified as an attempted terrorist attack?

Furthermore, can this still somehow be blamed on Reagan, Rush, or Right-wingers?

The drive-by media doesn't dare do any racial profiling of a suspect since they are standing behind the illegals who are accusing AZ of racial profiling themselves. Don't let facts or a good story stand in the way of an agenda.

Come on now OMG. He looks to me like one of those Tea Party southern  redneck males you would find at a rally against BIG Socialist Government. Perhaps we need to get Mayor Bloomberg to break it down as far as this suspect goes. We do not realize how fortunate we are to have thwarted this attack. The good Lord was looking out for us. This incident has shown us just how inept the Homeland Security Department Leadership Team is at doing their job (notice I said leadership and not rank and file. Save the Emails). This Homeland Security Leadership bunch  is as inept as the EPA is in dealing with the BP spill and is a mirrow of  the bumbling response of the White House to the BP Gulf spill they are in the process of  trying to blame Gov. Jindal, Gov. Palin and President Bush for in the Press. The latest is they knew about this guy all the time and  had an arial survalnce team tracking him. Don't buy the msnbc lie folks. This is a repeat of unemployment is not going to go above 8% after we pass Barry's China-Debt Jobs Stimulus Bill. Please, enough already! We are in trouble as a nation folks. Let us look reality in the eye and admit our situation. We need to fall on our knees and ask the Lord to give wisdom to our leaders in the congress and in the White House after we thank him for the mercy he has shown us in avoiding this latest Islamoterriorsit attach in NYC. If it were not for those T-Shirt vendors just think how much worse this could have been. The guy was on the Jet waiting to taxi before they figured it out thanks to the Airline tip. Oh my goodness. How many more times can we dodge the bullet? Folks this this leadership does not inspire confidence and given the dullard nature of the NYC has as Mayor we all need to pray for wisdom in our leaders. We can do better than this.

Meanwhile, over on State-run PMSNBC, infochick Contessa Brewer is "disappointed" that the Times Square bomber wasn't one of those VIOLENT Tea Partiers.

OMG, we are now being told this guy got an MBA, became a registered Democrat so he could support liberals, and got a home loan all within a matter of a few months. Let me ask you a question. Say this Islamoterrorist had come across the unsecured Arizona border Boss Napolatano should have been shoring up. How would you determine he was simply an illegal alien sneaking across and not an Islamoterrorist? I would love to hear the liberal law breaking advocates explain that one.

In March of 1916 there WAS a terrorist attack across the border.

"On March 9, 1916 a force of Mexican banditos following the rebel Pancho Villa crossed the border and attacked the border town of Columbus, New Mexico. Columbus was a tiny flyblown collection of shacks and wood buildings and was also home to a small detachment of the 13th Cavalry. After a firefight lasting several hours, seventeen Americans (eight soldiers and nine civilians) lay dead as did roughly 100 Villistas.

A hue and cry went up demanding that the U.S. Government “do something” about Villa and other Mexican leaders taking advantage of chaos in Mexico to cause chaos on the north side of the border. Stiff diplomatic notes were dispatched to the Mexican government who denied any knowledge of or control over, Villa - or anyone else for that matter.   The US Army was mustered and sent to the border.

A plan emerged, the regulars would be sent into northern Mexico to find, catch and kill Villa and as many of his men as possible. This “Punitive Expedition” would be under the command of a hitherto little-known general named John J. Pershing.  One of Pershing's staff officers was a brash young cavalry officer from California, George Smith Patton, Jr. Meanwhile the National Guard units of Texas, New Mexico and Arizona would be activated and federalized.  The Guardsmen would take over responsibility for patrolling the American side of the border and seeing to the security of the towns and settlements there.  Unfortunately for the plan, the three states mustered only about 3500 men to control well over 1500 miles of border.

Secretary of War Newton Baker then ordered more states' national guard units activated for service.  Among those Guardsmen were the men of East Tennessee.  The Second and Third Tennessee Infantry  and the Tennessee Cavalry regiments left for service in Texas.  Once there, they learned why, when asked after he was stationed there following the Civil War chasing Confederate holdouts and Apache Indians, General Phillip Sheridan famously remarked that if given the choice between living in Hell or Texas, he would, “live in Hell and rent out Texas.”  It was hot. It was dusty. It was miserable.  When it rained, it did so in buckets.  Then howling winds from the north would blow in and drop temperatures sixty degrees in a matter of hours. The one thing the guardsmen did accomplish was they learned how to be soldiers.  That would soon come in handy.

The Regulars were having the Devil's own time trying to pin down the Villistas and seemed to be mainly riding their horses to exhaustion and exchanging a potshot or two with Villa's men every now and then.  The Guardsmen didn't even have that to distract them from the heat, dust, scorpions, and mosquitoes the size of turkey buzzards.

Finally, Pershing and his men rode back across the Rio Grande and in March of 1917 everyone bid a not-too-fond farewell to the Lone Star State.

Military service is never without some risk. It is known that a soldier of the 1st Tennessee Cavalry, one Bugler Tomlinson was accidentally shot and died of his wounds on 28 February, ten days before the Guard left Texas and returned to Tennessee.

Sunburnt, bone-tired and thoroughly sick of it all, the boys came home in March, 1917 and were quickly mustered out."

- Battles of the 27th and 30th Divisions - work in progress by yours truly.

The 3rd Tennessee would become the 117th Infantry in World War One and earn more Distinguished Service Crosses and Congressional Medals of Honor than any other American regiment in that war.
