Baccalaureate is tonight(Friday) and Graduation is tomorrow morning. His next plans are still a bit up in the air but he will do fine. He is my youngest and this is my last HS graduation until the kids give me Grandchildren.  He is my Mother in Laws youngest Grandchild and this will also be her last Graduation. She graduated 8 children from KCHS, a ninth child attends Sunshine Learning Center as she nears 60 yrs old

I have put 3 into the Catholic School system and he is the last one to finish 12+ years of Catholic Education. My Daughter graduated from UT in 2001 and works as an accountant for TVA. My son finished ETSU in 2005 and he now works at the corporate HQ's for Carmax and is a programmer in charge of the in house financial software for the company. It is now time for my youngest to make his mark.

My wife and I graduated from KCHS in 1975, my daughter graduated in 1995, oldest son in 2000 and now Michael join the ranks as he graduates in 2010. His picture will soon join all of his family on the walls with at least 10 other cousins. and hundreds of other what I call branch kin. Great Great aunts uncles and 5 and 6th cousins.... To put this into perspective my Grandfathers Grandmothers sister sold/donated the house that was the original school on Magnolia Avenue. She was raised on Clark Street@Richards Street at the 5th Avenue Bridge where the scrap metal business is now. Her parents came here from Kerry Ireland Dingle Penisula from the town of Ballyferiter.

The priest that baptised me also was the parish priest that baptised all my children and presided over the funeral of my infant son. A nun who spent her first 2 years out of the convent as my teacher also taught all 3 of my children for at least one year. Sister Jolita is now deceased and we have a yearly fund raiser to keep up her Irish Shrine and extra money goes to the Catholic Schools. My math teacher who I thought was ancient when I was at St Joe's also taught all 3 of my children and she just retired a couple of years ago. One of my schoolmates now teaches at St Joe's and her daughter is in my sons graduating class tomorrow as is the child of one other classmate.

My Mother in Law came here from Minneapolis and her Husband came her from Cooperstown ND, his father was born in Norway. She attended Catholic schools in Minneapolis and some of her niece and nephews attend the same school she did, St Anne's...

MY Grandfather attened St Mary's School in Nashville, it was a boarding school that he and his 4 brothers and sister lived at after their parents death. He called it an orphanage, but the pictures I saw say it was a mighty fine school on the Outskirts of town operated by ther Dominican Sisters.

This is a passage of rite as my role of parent of school age children ends and I suppose that makes me an old FART. Well I luv it!! I plan to wait on Grandchildren, look forward to retirement and will pass my time keeping SPS up and running.

Reflections on 12 years of Catholic Education.

It is a bit embarrassing to have been concerned with the human problem all one's life and find at the end that one has no more to offer by way of advice than "try to be a little kinder".

Congrats all around.

My last goes out next year.  I told the Principal that I expect a 30-year pin. I think you got me beat by a couple.

We got the kid graduated and a damn fine get together at Puleo's. He is off to a get together before the Lock In at Mercy System. In parenting, there is not a moment when you can declare a victory, BUT!!!!! you can celebrate a touchdown and spike the ball. WE DID!! Puleos is a top-notch fine KCHS GRAD BUSINESS!!

Agreed.  Our classmate (once known far and wide as "The Pretzel") once said that Catholic produced two groups of graduates, "Some of us are smart ... and the rest of us sell food."

Hint: AFIK, Plumber has NEVER worked in the "food bidness,"

I, on the other hand ...

Congratulations, Plumber, on your young pipe hanger!  I know you have sweated more than fittings to get your bunch through school.  No one can take that away from them.  Best of luck to him on his future career!

BTW,

I ran into a big KCHS fan and Notre Dame fan at Pilot last night.  SewaneeVol and I road up to South Bend on a great ND Alumni bus trip he arranged.  He said something about ND coming back and I told him my mighty Webb School Spartans had come back, too.     He agreed, but was done with me after that--especially after I got my free drink because his gas pump would not print a receipt!

I saw Judge Tim Irwin this morning.  He looks good, but is beginning to look like the plumber/inspector his grandfather was.  I admire what he does for the Boy's Clubs.

More inbreeding:  Also, I went to a 100-year Celebration of Ijams History at Ijams Nature Center the other night and was giving a board member a hard time.  I looked over at the name tag of the lady she was talking to and realized it was your wife's ex-boss.  I had told my friend, George, who is an Ijams descendent, and President of the Board this year, that I noticed that he was replacing my cousin's ex-wife (MD).  I used to get their mail and phone calls all the time and had several call me about something positive my cousin had done.  Naturally, I took credit for it.  I told her I met her years ago with her ex when George and I went cross country skiing at Newfound Gap--don't try that up there, if your knee is shot.  She remembered.  I didn't ask about the ash spill.

As you told me once about me and an ex-SPS UTJethro poster on here:  "Only in East Tennessee!"

Thanks Everybody!!

Sky I had not seen your posts on here in awhile I thought R---J might have kidnapped you or had you killed. How was Maureen? She parachuted out of there just as all of the litigation over Kingston was coming to a head, not her fault nor anybody in the OGC's office.

Taylor thanks for the kind words, I always figured you have ties with the school.

OMG what can I say, I am glad it is you and not I that has to go back next year and do it again.
