It's time, Comrades. The Commissar has had enough. I denounce Comrade DaVols. - Commissar Mao tse-Cat, Peoples' Commissariat of Internet Sanity and Seafood Testing

That is what many UT grass is always greener...how can anyone be that good if we beat them mentality. I keep hearing how bad the SEC was in the 1990's. The SEC won National Titles in 1992, 1996 and 1998. Auburn went undefeated in a probation year. Many top 3 rankings by conference members. Yea, they suck so bad that any conference would have taken that. It is not like the 80's when there was a 1980 National Title and no other. Majors had it very easy. Since Phil became coach the SEC has won what 9 National Titles. By far treading on the hardest turf ever and putting up the best era in UT history.

It was much too hard for Phil to tread.  Thats why his program crashed and burned and programs led by quality coaches like Saban and Meyer flourished and continue to do so.

Towel, should every school in the SEC who does not have a winning record vs Saban and Meyers over the last 5-7 years fire their coach?

Of course not.  However, UT was a better program than Alabama before Saban got there.  I would also say the Vols were as good, or slightly better than Florida before Meyer was hired.

Fulmer was 0-4 against Meyer, with the last two losses having a combined score of 89-26.   The
combined score in Fulmer's last 2 years against Saban was 70-26 in favor of the Tide after beating Bama in '06.   I think thats pretty telling.  Don't you?

It  wouldn't have gotten any better if Phil had stayed and these coonskin cap wearing necks know it.
All they want to talk about is divisional placements anymore.

No championships of any kind after 98.  It was time...........................
I predict we will have one before the year 2016.

We have the opportunity to rebuild the program with a little bit of class and character, and I am all for it. Winning is not everything, in fact I say UT can win and do it the right way. IF the fanbase will be patient and allow the process to occur....

Violence is not allowed nor is buying players..... Lets do this the right way and enjoy the process. its time!!

Very sweet yet naive. You can not nor will not get players from other states without an occasional extra benefit. You cannot win without a few kids on the fringe. There is not even an example of a school winning big time with angels. No where no how. Tenn is far from the worst offender. This is the game that they play and you either accept it and move on or you become Vandy. By the way, Vandy has had their share of situations as well. Maybe the Ivy League does it. You can say in theory that it can be done clean but that is not accurate and never has been nor never will be.

Since most have no idea about the UT history, I thought a true memory lane would be fun.

1. 1951 Maryland 28-13. That is the game that kept the 1951 team from being an undisputed National Champ. By the way, the 50's was full of losses to Duke.
2. 1967 UCLA 20-16. That game kept them from winning a legit National Title. By the way, the 60's was full of losses to Ga Tech.
3. 1996 Memphis 21-17. Yes there was a blown call but that should not have been close and it would have had UT playing again for a National Title.
4. 1975 N. Texas State 21-14. Embarrasing. Many UCLA losses in the 70's.
5. 1979 Rutgers 13-7. Rutgers at the time was one of the worst teams in America. It was HC.
6. 1982 Duke 25-24. Before Spurrier.
7. 1988 Duke 31-26. The rise of Spurrier.
8. 2001 LSU 31-20. Kept the Vols from another SEC title and playing for another National Title.
9. 1990 Alabama 9-6. Majors gave it away.
10. 1986 Army 25-21. Army was horrible. Majors rose to the occasion.
11. 2005 Alabama 6-3. Fumbled going in for the win. The start of a bad season that happened very frequently in the UT history before 1990.
12. 2009 UCLA 19-15. Coaching lost this game.

Many of the early losses where just embarrassing against horrible teams. The 1990's and 2000's where losses that kept UT from a National Title and where against bigtime teams.

2008 UCLA- Chavis' finest hour!

1992 S. Carolina- 3rd and 23 and UT ran it up the middle. No excuse for that loss.

How you don't have Wyoming in 2008 is beyond me. And don't give me that crap about just losing a legend. Anytime you lose to a team of Wyoming's caliber it's an embarassment. There are no excuses for that.

#8 was a dagger. It was the beginning of the end for Fulmer IMHO.
