2008 UCLA- Chavis' finest hour!

1992 S. Carolina- 3rd and 23 and UT ran it up the middle. No excuse for that loss.

That was our first year in the SEC and to think we started out a winning streak against Heath Shuler and Tennessee.  A walk on, Hank Campbell made the tackle at the end of the game to preserve the win.  The euphoria was short lived.  UT racked up some wins against us after firing Majors.

UT defense was ranked #3 in America after that season.

Majors was the coach coming back from his smoking and drinking induced cardiac problem. It was also the game where they filmed the movie The Program.

I was still a student when that game was played.  Halle Berry was a young budding unknown actress in that movie.  They did alot of filming inside the stadium after that game for The Program.

The argument to keep Fulmer solely because Hambone would screw up the next hire is defeatist at best.

It was time for Fulmer to go, but if Kif was the best they could do they should not have bothered. Hiring him was the biggest mistake made by the UT AD in my lifetime, even bigger than hiring Battle.... Losing is bad, cheating is inexcusable.........

'99 loss at Arkansas had to be one of the worst. No way Arkansas had anything close to our talent that year. Tennessee still had a chance to repeat as National Champion and went out there and played awful.
I'll never forget sitting in the stands after that game thinking about the long trip home on Sunday and then back to work early on Monday morning. I realized that the team would be back in Knoxville before dark that night and the game would be a distant memory by Sunday morning. That game was when the Food Stamp Man started waking up about this college football business. Hasn't been the same for me since.

The loss to Arkansas in 92 was even worse.   UT was undefeated and highly ranked going into that game and Arkansas lost to THE Citadel to open that season.    The Hogs had no talent except for a Defensive line. Johnny did his usual run the ball up the middle for the entire game to keep the Hogs in the game.

Late in the 4th quarter, Arkansas ran a punt back for a TD and then Barry Lunney threw up a prayer in the form of a wounded duck that an Ark wide receiver caught for a long gain that set up the winning FG.

That was the beginning of the 3 game losing streak that ended in Columbia, SC two weeks later and the beginning of the end for Johnny.     If they had won just one of those 3 games, they would have been in the first SEC Championship Game.

That is why I have never missed Johnny Majors!!

The LSU game that choked away the Rose Bowl has to be #1 IMO.

That QB couldnt do anything but run a draw play and it continued to fool UT.

Awesome job by the HOF fatty that night

Fatty followed that up with another fold job in 06 and these goobers brag about leading most of the 4th quarter of that game.

I do believe all of those times Fulmer led the Vols to victory over the Tide  left an indelible impression on Ol RogerDawn.     I have never seen anyone so obsessed with the coach of a rival team than RogerDawn is with Fulmer (Mountain Values is a close 2nd).

I guess setting the record for most consecutive wins against your school and then getting your program put on probation by conspiring with the FBI, the US Justice Dept, the NCAA, and the SEC will leave you with that kind of anger.    You boys can't even enjoy your time on top of the heap for worryng about Fulmer and the Volunteers.

7 straight wins over bama.  A perfect season.  One NC.  152 beautiful wins and NO probation or professional level cheating like bama.

Oh, and never a QB as bad as Freddie Kitchens.

DuhVols, the national champion was voted on in the polls BEFORE the bowls until 1968. The 1939 loss to USC did not matter as it was viewed as an exhibition game. Despite the fact that Tennessee was unscored upon in all the games that mattered that season, they still did not win the national title in any poll. A travesty on par with Manning not winning the Heisman.

as an intellect, I am well aware of how and when they voted. That does not change the fact that in the minds of the people that title has an asterisk. That team was not an undefeated and undisputed champion. Sorry and stop reaching. As for 1939, at that time the SEC was getting waxed out of conference and that was in the minds of the national voters. Not unlike the Big Ten now. They did not beat anyone that year to deserve it.
