Tennessee expects to receive a letter of inquiry about possible violations under Lane Kiffin and his staff. But have no fear LK was interviewed after USC practice and said "I have great confidence in what we did there, that we didn't do anything wrong.  Just because they're looking into something doesn't mean we did anything wrong."  Lane

UT has turned "states evidence" and is fully cooperating with the NCAA. The NCAA wants to get Orgeron and Lane out of college coaching. Pat Haden wants to get rid of that coaching staff at USC and they are turning over every rock looking for infractions that will give them an "out". I dont see UT getting much of a punishment especially with their cooperation. However, this will be the final nail in Hammys coffin.

I have also heard that Haden cut USC's recruiting budget in half and that Lane was very upset. Haden told him to STFU and go away. The soap opera that follows Lane around has been kicked up a notch. I see no way he survives the next 2 years.

UT fired a coach then sold out to a cheater to get back on top at all costs.  If Kiffin is going down, I have a feeling he will bring everyone down that he can.  That includes the 2 assistants he left behind that are now on Dooley's staff.  Also, if Bryce Brown is involved, Dooley better release him today and llet him go to Kansas State.  A bitter Bryce Brown can really hurt UT IMHO.

Sounds like a potentially very nasty situation.

The Kiff walked away from UT and relieved us of the $$$ buyout. USC picked him up and will be stuck with the bill unless they can find an out. I feel comfortable about Chaney, but Lance scares me. I agree about Brown my SC friend, let him go. The rumor is the guy has a major breathing problem....... I worry that Kiff and the boys were treating the disease....

I love DD's quote

How so? Brown's amature status would be at risk.

The NCAA typically penalizes the school, regardless of where the coach is at the time. Obviously having Kiffin and Ogre out of here is a big help. I still can't believe that we had that clown Ogre at UT.

I've had the opportunity to talk with coach Chaney a couple of times. I really like the guy. He seems straight up, and I don't think he had as big a recruiting role under Kiffin as he does now. Gran has always been a character guy, and he had an exit strategy pretty early, when he wouldn't sign a contract. I can bet you that if there is any major issues, that Ogre's and Kiffin's hands are all over it. I have a feeling that the NCAA will look at this case much differently because of the way Kiffin thumbed his nose at them. I'd say UT will follow their traditional approach of compliance.

He's not on any team now unless he pays his own way since Dooley is holding him hostage to protect his program.  Could make him bitter IMO and eager to lash back if NCAA violations occurred while UT recruited him.  If Chaney and Gran have as much character as you say, they will tell the truth about Bryce and his recruitment if he is part of this investigation.

Release Bryce now and let him play with his brother in Kansas on scholarship, it just looks bad that Dooley will not and is hurting his family financially.

In other news USC's Havili and Bryant got into a fight during a conditioning drill before training camp. Bryant underwent surgery Thursday on his cheekbone, which apparently was injured by Havili during the confrontation. Gosh you have got to love Kif, if it was my kid the man would be facing a major kicking. But then again some of you punks probably think the parent of Bryant should apologize to Kif for messing up his practice routine...

Yep. The NCAA will have to come down hard on UT if it wants to come down hard on Kiffin and Orgeron. UT still has an AD and compliance folks who were here before and after Kiffin so for the Kiffin nutjob stalkers out there don't think that he can go down without UT going down with him.

And PV really give it a rest about Kiffin. Havili knocked the snot out of Bryant. Bryant is a grown man and I'm sure he can fight his own battles but one would have to question his mental capacity or anybody else who wants to get into it with Havili. It has nothing to do with Kiffin and you certainly aren't in any condition to be delivering an kicking to Kiffin or anybody else.

Kiffin is gone. Let it go.

http://www.tennessean.com/article/20100808/COLUMNIST0202/8080356/David+Climer++UT+just+can+t+escape+Kiffin+quagmire

As Climer says:
Lane Kiffin — the gift that keeps on giving.
If RT is right this should be enough to nudge ole Hambone out the door. I had no trouble with him firing Fulmer, I did object to the timing and the way he handled the players. Both hiring processes were handled in a very ameteur fashion, and the man lacks judgement skills IMO. If UT cans Hambone then we have purged everybody involved other than Chaney and Lance from that period. I bet Lance does not return next year, I hope Chaney makes it... He is a talent that we need and if he is squeeky clean I see no problem...

We know the Orange Pride is an issue but I understand they are taking another look at the GA and the Miami thingie.....

The NCAA is looking into the following issues:
Orange Pride, phone calls during dead periods, violation of the 20hr and 10hr rule, supervised off season team workouts by a staff member(Monte Kiffin) Illegal UT staff filming for evaluation of prospects, Bryce Brown issues, and the Rubio Miami recruit contact issue.

The Orange Pride thing is a non issue IMO because no Hostess will admit to anything. The media circus surrounding the case will be nasty. I think they have Monte nailed on this one. The deal is the Kifs screwed over to many ex players and they want some payback. The filming thing is tricky it comes down to if a UT rep supervised a HS filming a prospect.... Rubio, Miami, Ogeron  Sleeze accussing sleaze of being sleazy..... The phone call issues deal with Brown and others plus the parting calls from OGRE. Also what is contact with staff and what is contact from players? Did the staff instruct players/ friends etc. to contact!!

I don't know if this is a witch hunt, but the NCAA does not show up unless their is a reason. They usually want to verify what they already know.
