So, the soshulist has deported more illegals, and a higher percentage of criminals among that group of illegals, than Bush with GOP Congress ever did.

http://trac.syr.edu/immigration/reports/234/

                  Full             First
Year           Year         9 Months
2005    195,066    141,837    +97%
2006    229,797    168,876    +65%
2007    291,060    213,388    +31%
2008    369,221    254,763    +10%
2009    389,834    287,868    see note
2010               279,035

But it's now, after Obama is elected, that immigration became a crisis.

well he is suing a state and sided with a hypocrite foreign head of state over his own citizens, even allowing his own country to be criticized and demeaned on our own turf...

maybe that's not a problem. meanwhile, ask the guatemalans about me-hi-ko's friendly immigration policies.

NC.  You've never heard me give Bush or any President before him a pass on immigration.  We've been derelict of duty for quite some time.  That's why we have an estimated 15-20 million illegals in this country.

It's refreshing to see that deportations have picked up under BHO's watch.  However, if they go and give amnesty to illegals in the next couple months, then this chart is a moot point.

As an interesting aside to the chart you've offered, I wonder how the increase in deportations have been directly affected by states policing more for illegals in their own back yards and then turning them over to the Feds for deportation???  I'm sure that would be a difficult number to come up with.  But just suppose that the state and local governments are the real reason that deportations have increased in recent years, and not the INS out looking to put more illegals out.

Since it is now a crime for states to enforce the Federal Immigration law, I wonder what next years numbers will look like?

I agree. I guess when the illegals are suddenly legal this number will go to zero. Boy, that will sure skew the charts.

Also, did you notice the numbers INCREASED every year? Like Obama, that mean old Bush deserves credit for that doesn't he?

Furthermore, I would like to see how the numbers compare to the overall illegal population. In other words, are there more deportations in 2009 than in 2005 because there are more illegals? If so, how does this break down in percentages.

Good.  We need to keep increasing the number until all of the illegals are gone.

In other words, don't bother you with facts, it's the words politicians use that concern you.

Got it.  Makes sense.  It's why lemmings still believe against ALL the evidence that the GOP is fiscally conservative despite the explosion in deficits and debt under their watch.  After all, they SAY they care about deficits and debt, and for those who ignore evidence, aka all the remaining republicans, words are enough!

I don't actually target these things at thinking conservatives like you.   Other than on health care, I generally have no issues with where you stand.

And on this topic, it could be states, or it could be that as a tactic to get support for immigration "reform" the Obama people are purposely getting tough on deportations to send the right signal that the borders will be closed.  I'm not really trying to make any comment other than the right wing loons, particularly the people like Hannity/Limbaugh etc. creating this frenzy against Obama on immigration and everything else, simply ignored the far greater lapse in immigration enforcement under the GOP since back then the right wing crazies and Dick Armey types didn't tell the base to get upset and so they didn't.

Now that Obama is in office, an objectively BETTER record on the border is now proof of a CRISIS!!!!!  OH MY GOSH, WE'RE LOSING THE COUNTRY!!! that requires every cop in every town across the country to start checking the papers of every guy with a funny accent.  Similarly, AZ crime rates are DOWN, not up.  But we're told there's a crime WAVE.  It just dishonest hackery.

What's funny about amnesty is we KNOW the GOP leadership actually favors another round - they fought like heck for it under Bush.  The only problem is how to get it passed without losing THEIR base.  It's another reason why the sudden outrage against the democrats is so funny.

To be quite honest and non-partisan in this whole issue, one of the biggest proponents of amnesty has been none other than Republican Senator John McCain.  If it were up to him and others like him (Graham, Snowe, Kyl etc.) along with GWB (http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=110&session=1&vote=00235) in 2007 pushed S.1639 which was the Bush/Kennedy Comprehensive Immigration Reform (amnesty) bill.

They ALL want to sell us out on the borders.  This isn't just a Democrat issue.  I agree on your premise NC that the D-party has been demonized on immigration reform when it's really all over D.C. to grant amnesty to illegals.

This is why the whole lot of them should be thrown out of town.

BTW, you should have used "Democratic issue" instead of "Democrat issue". You come across to some as a right-wing hack when you do that.

Good.  We need to keep increasing the number until all of the illegals are gone.

I'm not sure if you're being serious or sarcastic. If you're serious, you're delusional. We have neither the manpower, money, resources, or motivation to round up some 12-15 million people and deport them ... even assuming many would not return once they've been deported. It is impossible to get rid of all the illegals.

They are not going away. Get used to it.

I disagree entirely AV.  If the Feds would rigidly enforce programs like E-verify and others that require a valid proof of citizenship before employment could be granted, they would go home.  We wouldn't even have to spend the $ rounding them up.  Take away the work, and you take away the reason for them being here.  Simple as that.

Then you create a worker's program (visa-based work permits) and rigidly control the growth of this program and you get back the working class that business desires.  But they have to apply through the proper channels (INS), fill out the forms, and submit the fees (just like my wife and many other LEGAL immigrants have done) in the orderly and lawful fashion as it should be.
