First up is Rand (Son of Ron, no relation to Ayn) Paul.

Quote
The strangest episode of Paul's time at Baylor occurred one afternoon in 1983 ... According to this woman... "He and [Rand Paul] came to my house, they knocked on my door, and then they blindfolded me, tied me up, and put me in their car. They took me to their apartment and tried to force me to take bong hits. They'd been smoking pot." After the woman refused to smoke with them, Paul and his friend put her back in their car and drove to the countryside outside of Waco, where they stopped near a creek. "They told me their god was 'Aqua Buddha' and that I needed to bow down and worship him," the woman recalls. "They blindfolded me and made me bow down to 'Aqua Buddha' in the creek. I had to say, 'I worship you Aqua Buddha, I worship you.' At Baylor, there were people actively going around trying to save you and we had to go to chapel, so worshiping idols was a big no-no."

And then thrice married Newt is always good defending family values.
Quote
It's a very lengthy piece, but the anecdote that's likely to generate the most attention comes in her telling of the point in May 1999, soon after she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, when Gingrich confessed to one of his affairs -- with a woman who was in Marianne's "apartment, eating off her plates, sleeping in her bed."

[Marianne] called a minister they both trusted. He came over to the house the next day and worked with them the whole weekend, but Gingrich just kept saying she was a Jaguar and all he wanted was a Chevrolet. " 'I can't handle a Jaguar right now.' He said that many times. 'All I want is a Chevrolet.' "

He asked her to just tolerate the affair, an offer she refused.

He'd just returned from Erie, Pennsylvania, where he'd given a speech full of high sentiments about compassion and family values.

The next night, they sat talking out on their back patio in Georgia. She said, "How do you give that speech and do what you're doing?"

"It doesn't matter what I do," he answered. "People need to hear what I have to say. There's no one else who can say what I can say. It doesn't matter what I live."

I knew Newt left wife #1 while she was being treated for cancer, but I didn't know he left wife #2 just after she was diagnosed with MS.  It takes compassion and commitment to a whole different level!

I like the "no one else who can say what I can say" stuff too.  Humility is good.

My sister lives in Georgia and was friend with the first wife....she told me about the MS of the second....being a good lemming, however, she will vote for the family values rethuglacrap runs for peznit if he runs....cause he ain't that black, soshulous, kenyan commie, who is out to destroy Medicare and Social Security.  Ain't it funny how the rethugs talk about doing away with SS and Medicare etc, and yet the dems get blamed for it?  Not just history.... the rethugs also want to revise the present!

I'll not defend Newt, I can believe almost anything when it comes to him.

As for the Rand Paul story...  I'd wait that out a bit before I ran with it NC.  Go back and reread that account.  Doesn't something sound completely implausible about that?  It sounds very far-fetched to me.  In fact, I think this is an elitist-establishment "hit" on Paul and an attempt to discredit him.  The story is very flimsy.  Is this the best they can do?

As of yesterday the Rand Paul camp had not denied the allegations. I'm not sure they know how to react.

What is impossible to believe about college students getting stoned and acting stupid? It may or may not be true, but I can certainly imagine college students doing something this retarded.

Newt Gingrich is the biggest hypocrite on the planet. Yet, he remains a hero on the right and many want him to run for President.

What's interesting is Paul denies "kidnapping" anyone or forcing anyone to use drugs.  But the story didn't actually allege he did either act.  He doesn't recall anything else or doesn't want to comment.

http://videocafe.crooksandliars.com/heather/rand-paul-denies-kidnapping-woman-college

I think smoking pot and then doing a harmless prank about taking the woman to the creek happened, is the bottom line.  I don't know about your youth, but I was drunk more than once in college and on rare occasions (twice I think) even smoked pot, but I CAN categorically deny that I ever took a blindfolded woman to a creek and had her pray to the Aqua Buddha!  That Rand Paul won't categorically deny THAT is an admission something LIKE that happened.  IMO.

I think it's hilarious.  It would do exactly nothing either way to my vote.  I'm just not sure the people of KY will think that smoking pot and having a girl worship a false idol is funny...

Maybe I'm missing something here NC, but this sounds like an accusation of kidnapping to me.  She alleges that Paul and his buddy bound her, and took her against her will.  Then they forced her to do bong hits.  I think Paul is directly addressing the allegations.

LTC...  I'd love to find something to wager with you on.  Trust me, I'm a gambling man.  However, I think this Paul story is going to be very hard to prove out.  Like Paul says in the interview, anyone can come forth and allege anything these days.  Unless this goes to court, this is going to be outstanding allegations (he said/she said) indefinitely.

Now, if you want to take a look at the futures market and wager me on some of those.  I'd be game.

I will defer to the loons on this one:

What happened???  Nothing! Lack of any credible evidence.

But at this point, there is little proof, just an accusation from 2006!!!.

But at this point there is little evidence,

I mean seriously, at least find some examples from the 21st century, not from an era where many of the posters on this forum hadn't even been born yet.

But I really am amazed at times what gets our attention.

You're happy to condemn sexual immorality, but not naked greed that has as a side effect withdrawing support from people when they are most vulnerable.

Adultery is a personal failing, with potentially devastating personal consequences, but a policy that has AS IT'S SOLE PURPOSE cutting off a critically ill patient from the ability to pay for his or her own care is evil.  But it's easy to pass judgment on Gore Gingreich and his alleged sexual misconduct,

Here's a prediction about Rand.

1) He will not sue anyone!

How about a picture.  Rand is the guy in black robe and straw hat, apparently.

Rand Paul’s Prank Victim Clarifies That She Wasn’t ‘Kidnapped’
8/11/10 at 3:39 PM

Rand Paul's former Baylor swim teammate — the one he had reportedly blindfolded, tied up, tried to force to smoke weed, and pressured to knee and pray to the god Aqua Buddha — is trying to clear up some confusion in a new, still-anonymous interview with the Plum Line's Greg Sargent. And though she reiterates the events of the original story, she definitely vindicates Paul in clarifying that she was never forcibly "kidnapped" in the way that, say, Mel Gibon's son was kidnapped in Ransom. She was friends with Paul and the other NoZe brother, knew it was a prank, and willingly took part in it.

The woman said that much of the subsequent coverage of her allegations missed a key nuance: As a participant in a college ritual, where lines between acquiescence and victimization are often blurry, she was largely playing along with the notion that she was being forced to follow Paul's orders.

"I went along because they were my friends," she said. "There was an implicit degree of cooperation in the whole thing. I felt like I was being hazed."

It is really fun to watch loons try to "get" somebody.

I will ask you LTC, what was that coed's name again? If she is credible, she must have a name.

What happened???  Nothing! Lack of any credible evidence.

I also like the "quality" of the hit piece you posted:

"and pressured to knee and pray to the god Aqua Buddha".

"Mel Gibon's son"

You just know that Aqua Buddha hates to get kneed! Ouch!

Is this Mel "Gibon" a credible source?
