NCVol:
First up is Rand (Son of Ron, no relation to Ayn) Paul.

Quote

The strangest episode of Paul's time at Baylor occurred one afternoon in 1983 ... According to this woman... "He and [Rand Paul] came to my house, they knocked on my door, and then they blindfolded me, tied me up, and put me in their car. They took me to their apartment and tried to force me to take bong hits. They'd been smoking pot." After the woman refused to smoke with them, Paul and his friend put her back in their car and drove to the countryside outside of Waco, where they stopped near a creek. "They told me their god was 'Aqua Buddha' and that I needed to bow down and worship him," the woman recalls. "They blindfolded me and made me bow down to 'Aqua Buddha' in the creek. I had to say, 'I worship you Aqua Buddha, I worship you.' At Baylor, there were people actively going around trying to save you and we had to go to chapel, so worshiping idols was a big no-no."

And then thrice married Newt is always good defending family values.
Quote

It's a very lengthy piece, but the anecdote that's likely to generate the most attention comes in her telling of the point in May 1999, soon after she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, when Gingrich confessed to one of his affairs -- with a woman who was in Marianne's "apartment, eating off her plates, sleeping in her bed."

[Marianne] called a minister they both trusted. He came over to the house the next day and worked with them the whole weekend, but Gingrich just kept saying she was a Jaguar and all he wanted was a Chevrolet. " 'I can't handle a Jaguar right now.' He said that many times. 'All I want is a Chevrolet.' "

He asked her to just tolerate the affair, an offer she refused.

He'd just returned from Erie, Pennsylvania, where he'd given a speech full of high sentiments about compassion and family values.

The next night, they sat talking out on their back patio in Georgia. She said, "How do you give that speech and do what you're doing?"

"It doesn't matter what I do," he answered. "People need to hear what I have to say. There's no one else who can say what I can say. It doesn't matter what I live."

I knew Newt left wife #1 while she was being treated for cancer, but I didn't know he left wife #2 just after she was diagnosed with MS.  It takes compassion and commitment to a whole different level!

I like the "no one else who can say what I can say" stuff too.  Humility is good.

My sister lives in Georgia and was friend with the first wife....she told me about the MS of the second....being a good lemming, however, she will vote for the family values rethuglacrap runs for peznit if he runs....cause he ain't that black, soshulous, kenyan commie, who is out to destroy Medicare and Social Security.  Ain't it funny how the rethugs talk about doing away with SS and Medicare etc, and yet the dems get blamed for it?  Not just history.... the rethugs also want to revise the present!

Jeremy Roenick:
I'll not defend Newt, I can believe almost anything when it comes to him.

As for the Rand Paul story...  I'd wait that out a bit before I ran with it NC.  Go back and reread that account.  Doesn't something sound completely implausible about that?  It sounds very far-fetched to me.  In fact, I think this is an elitist-establishment "hit" on Paul and an attempt to discredit him.  The story is very flimsy.  Is this the best they can do?

As of yesterday the Rand Paul camp had not denied the allegations. I'm not sure they know how to react.

What is impossible to believe about college students getting stoned and acting stupid? It may or may not be true, but I can certainly imagine college students doing something this retarded.

Newt Gingrich is the biggest hypocrite on the planet. Yet, he remains a hero on the right and many want him to run for President.  /prof Nono/

JR, I believe the story is true...going the FL route, let's bet!  I will bet you one  /OMG/ if it turns out true.......
