How about this youtube video, where she lets her guard down. She really had to struggle to overcome this "error". I like the people's reaction in the background. Priceless:

I don't actually know anything about this case, and it's because I don't care all that much.  There are just dozens of these type issues that have come up with both parties, and for some reason, sometimes blatant conflicts of interest catch someone's attention and result in charges and sometimes they don't.

Just one case that amazed me during the health care debate was the fact that Evan Bayh's (D) wife was appointed as director of several healthcare related firms not coincidentally just as her hubbie was elected to the Senate and she collected millions in "directors fees" aka bribes.  To pick a Senator from the other side, Phil Gramm's wife was a big time lobbyist for companies who directly benefited from legislation old Phil got through the Senate.  Hank Paulson funneled BILLIONS to his old firm GS.

Here's an article that identified 19 family members of Congress who are lobbyists, and they missed some big ones, including Mrs. Bayh, not technically a lobbyist just a $million director, and Lieberman's wife, lobbyist for healthcare interests.

I think the key in Congressional "ethics" is to hire damn good attorneys to tell you the legal way to shake down the beneficiaries of your work in D.C.  The smart guys just get rich, and never get caught.  Our own Lamar! is a good poster child for the multi-millionaire lifelong "public servant."  The guys' investment acumen is just breathtaking, I suppose!  Lamar! "Buffett" Alexander....   When William "$100k Cold Cash" Jefferson got caught with that cash literally in his freezer, I thought, it's too bad someone didn't take him aside and escort him up to the Senate chambers so one of them, either party, could introduce Jefferson to their legal team that could walk Jefferson through how to launder that stuff through a great investment or a family member or a job post Congress, etc.

Nooo....I answered your question. She has a job for the same reason any of the members of Congress do....she was elected by her constituents....same as ensign.  Just because ensign is under ethics cloud too just made the answer more cogent.  I could just as easy have used rangel!

The problems with ethics knows no political party. Wouldn't it be great to have term limits for Congress? Thus the reason I cannot believe we have some of these people who continually get re-elected (see Waters who is on her 10th term, or insert your "favorite" name here).

And if you do the research, Waters has some classic gaffes. Much better than Bush. My favorite is when she was trying to say "Salomon, Smith, Barney" and she said "Salomon, Barney, Frank". Classic!

Great question SAS. My analysis is the political class (GOPsters and Demoncrats) feel doing the right and just thing in regard to her criminal actions would be politically incorrect so the wig lady socialist from the land of fruits and nuts will get a pass. Remember the purpose of political correctness is to bully the masses and the political culture from doing the right and just thing when it comes to the transgressions of liberals wheather they be GOPster liberals or Demoncrat liberals. . The criminality of Waters is the perfect example of this principle in action.

Also SAS you need to go back and take a look at that video from a few days ago in which Charlie Rangle had the extravagant birthday bash in which he was lauded and praised for his years of corruption in public office. I know Charlie Rangle was a Korean war veteran who fought the communist with valor on the Korean peninsula as a teen. I respected him for this unselfish service and bravery in the face of communist aggression. However just as the Vietnam war hero Duke Cunningham who also showed great bravery during war when you break the public trust while in office with illegal acts it is time to go. In conclusion, criminality in public office, by either party, should be dealt with in a just manner.

Wow! Fascinating moral logic for the board's infamous name calling and  inelegant liberal poster. I could have made the same case for Richard Nixon. Nixon won reelection in a landslide so obviously his constituents wanted him in office. However, as we all know President Nixon was forced to resign in shame. Perhaps the Democrat socialist wig woman from the land of fruits will do the right thing and end this national politcal nightmare. Nayyyyyyy!

Some folks have no shame...see ensign, and vitter as well as rangel and waters.....and many more...so, until official actions have been taken...she is the LEGALLY and duly elected representative of her district. Just as ensign is of his....

Gray,

I caught a few moments of this bizarre press confernece she had yesterday on CSPAN while doing my morning exercises. Get this, she was blaming President Bush for her criminality. I AM NOT KIDDING! She said the Bush administration was out to get minority owned banks and she was forced to intercede to save them. It was the most convoluted and illogical gibberish you have every heard in your life. She managed to also work in the race angle to justify her criminal activity. I guess some will buy this sort of rot. This lady has more falsehoods than she has wigs.
