I can't put it any better than this:

Quote
Forget building a mosque at ground zero, let's just give them an air force. That'll learn 'em. It's celebration time for our defense industry, cuz the Saudis have their checkbook out in a BIG way.

“I think it would be the largest ever,” said William Hartung, director of the New York City-based New America Foundation’s Arms and Security Initiative.

“Other deals that used to be considered large,” like the $9 billion sale of 72 F-15s to the Saudis in 1992-93 or the kingdom’s $9 billion acquisition of U.S. AWACS surveillance aircraft in 1981, “aren’t even in the ballpark, even allowing for inflation,” Hartung said.

The package includes 84 F-15s at a cost of $30 billion and helicopter sales totaling about $30 billion that include spare parts, training simulators, long-term logistics support and some munitions.

I think you can f some shiate up with 84 F-15's and $30 billion worth of attack helicopters. Hey, like you might even be able to make life miserable for an aircraft carrier in the Persian Gulf. Do all these military aircrafts come with a secret auto-destruct button in case real Arabians ever take power from the profligate Royal Family? What if some deranged prince loans one to Usama bin-Laden so he can strafe lower Manhattan? I can make s[tuff] up, too, and it's more plausible than whatever Newt Gingrich comes up with. But you don't hear any wingnuts complaining about this deal as some kind of threat to our national security. Why is that?

It's because all their outrage has to be manufactured. If no one tells them to be outraged, they are too stupid to do it on their own. Allowing a mosque to be built is a mortal threat to our way of life. Selling advanced military aircraft to the Wahhabis that run Saudi Arabia? That's good for the economy.

Truer words have never been spoken.

Our resident wingnuts started TWO threads yesterday over the "outrage" that decent Muslims want to build a community center two blocks away from ground zero. Forget the fact that one of the things that makes this country great is freedom of religion. Obviously, to the far right, extremist hypocrites, religious freedom is a right that only applies to Christians. Not to mention that by trying to stifle religious expression out of misplaced fear and ignorance would be a huge victory for the terrorists who want to destroy America.

Also, your point is dead on. Where is the real outrage? We supposedly went to war in Iraq to prevent Saddam from giving his mythical WMD to terrorists. We simply could not fathom the idea of WMD in the hands of Muslim fanatics who want to kill us. Yet, 84 F-15s in the hands of the very country that produced the overwhelming majority of the terrorists who attacked us on 9-11 and Osama bin-Laden doesn't invoke their ire.

Peace loving Muslims who are American citizens who want to build a mosque/community center: The world is coming to an end.
The sale of actual military equipment, aircraft, and weapons to a country full of Muslim fanatics who do in fact want to harm us: Not a problem.

I've said this before. The abject stupidity and hypocrisy from the far right posters on this forum is breathtaking at times.

The only ones being silent about this is your socialist media.  If we posted every mistake that the obamanation is making, we would overwhelm the board.

Really?  I looked and couldn't find anything on it other than straight news which might as well have been reporting the sale of advanced water treatment equipment or something.

Just so we're clear, all Muslims hate America and want us to die, but we'll sell $60 billion in advanced weaponry to some Muslims, who fund a virulent form of their religion all over the world and who supplied 15 of the hijackers, as a check against Iran.  And these weapons sales is no danger to the U.S. or Israel, but it's really just horrible, shocking, that we'll allow a mosque to be built anywhere near GZ because we know that it's intended as a monument of their successful strike against us.  There are no good or peaceful Muslims!!  So let's protest the mosque, but giving the people who want us dead or under their thumb advanced weapons is GREAT!!!

i can't believe Obama is doing this.

if we sold weapons to a middle eastern country pre 9/11, it is easy to be a hindsight policeman and criticize. we funded sadaam in the 80s, and the U.S. has always tried to help countries who were keeping our enemies in check.

but now, for Obama to do this smacks of a blatant gift to the country which harbors the holy ground of his religion.

outrageous.

as for the mosque- we don't know where the funding is coming from,  and the site should be respected. 9/11-related only construction, no mosques or other monuments to this religion of hate which was responsible for over 3,000 deaths that day. for those of you snug and comfortable in your pre-fab or double wides in a county with less than 50,000 people, shame on you. NYC that day was a war zone. not like the ones on your x boxes. i was there and feared for my wife and young son's life.

what is a mosque, anyway? a place for imams to train their next soldiers with a few prayers thrown in? i think we will survive without it. in fact, we would have had 3,000 or more survive if not for this evil demonic "religion."
