A global warming skeptic, Johnson said extreme weather phenomena were better explained by sunspots than an overload of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, as many scientists believe.
"I absolutely do not believe in the science of man-caused climate change," Johnson said. "It's not proven by any stretch of the imagination."
Johnson, in an interview last month, described believers in manmade causes of climate change as "crazy" and the theory as "lunacy."
"It's far more likely that it's just sunspot activity or just something in the geologic eons of time," he said.
Excess carbon dioxide in the atmosphere "gets sucked down by trees and helps the trees grow," said Johnson.
Average Earth temperatures were relatively warm during the Middle Ages, Johnson said, and "it's not like there were tons of cars on the road."
He doesn't believe in man made caused climate change......
Men are nasty animals and I think their has to be corelation between the vast wastelands that were home to early civilization. We clear cut the trees and destroyed the undergrowth that allowed erosion and the next thing you knew it was a wasteland. Just look at the average change in tempature that occurred after the settlers in the New world arrived as we cleared the forests. I am not buying the entire Global Warming thing, and even if it was true we as Americans cannot control what the rest of the world does as far putting carbon into the atmosphere. I am just saying that it is STUPID to say that man cannot cause climate change. I also believe that sun spots can affect our weather, so does man made enviromental changes...

Woodlands are extremely valuable for a number of reasons. Environmentally, they help to sequester carbon emissions, provide habitat to animals, and also act as temperature regulators. In regions with parks and wooded areas, these natural features can help to reduce temperature swings, keeping the region cooler in summer and warmer in winter.

We are entering a historic solar maximum right now.  Increased sun spots and activity that will affect mirco waves and other electronic devices.  Some studies suggest a temperature increase on Mars, it would explain a great many things.

So he doesn't believe that as the settlers came to the new world and clear cut the forests the temp fell along the north east Atlantic Coast and a land that was temperant enough to allow small number Indians to settle Villages could no longer do that. Or that as the Brits clear cut Ireland in the 16'00's the weather patterns changed on that island? I am sure the explanation that God punished the heathern Indians and Papist Irish and cleared the way for the King James Protestants to settle both lands in the belief in Manifest Destiny is a bit easier to swallow? Just saying!!
