Has Hillary weighted in on the Islamoterrorist Victory Masque at ground zero? If she came out for it either way it would probably hurt Hillary 2012. The president sure has set off a political firestorm with his support of this project.

she has not taken a stand because she is a much smarter and more experienced politician than BHO.  You are exactly correct. A stance on either side alienates. Although a stance against the mosque would only alienate a few fringe loonies, those are precisely the types of voters a left winger depends on..

All the President said was they have the right to build the center on private property, and that our constitution guarantees that right.  That is sort of the factual, constitutional position.  They can build it if they comply with local ordinances, period.  Not a damn thing the race baiters and fear mongers can do about it except whine and cry and try to gin up fear among neighbors.

It's bizarre, definitely pathetic, that the right wing position is, I suppose, that we should trample on the first sentence of the first amendment to the bill of rights.

NCVol....are you surprised?  The neoconmen and moronic cultists have continuously shown a hatred for our Constitution.

No not surprised, but it's still pathetic to watch.

What I like to think about is what kind of government we would NOT have if the current configuration of the GOP controlled the drafting of our constitution.  We'd have a monarchy or some sort of weak dictatorship, that has a role for a compliant legislature, that the Dictator was given power to override when he "really" neede to to keep us safe, etc.   Seems obvious to me.  There is an authoritarian streak in the far right that is really troubling.

The belief that these modern day folks would grant unconditional rights to anyone must seem like a sick joke to anyone who actually observes what the right wingers believe.

Are you guys diliberately distorting the facts or are you just confused?

To get back on track, they have the right, under the Constitution to build the mosque, don't think the community center is a right, but anyway. However, in the name of tolerance, why in this location?

Can you show where anyone has said they do not have the right?

Has anyone tried to shut down the over 200 mosques that are currently in NYC? I guess this is your version of "scare tactics".

obama took what he perceived to be a bold stance, then backpedaled the next day- that is what happened.

and if by authoritarian you mean government control, it is clear that the left has accelerated this premise very aggressively, and no amount of rhetoric from any of you leftists is gonna change that.

He did backpedal, to the default wingnut position.  I think it's tragic that he lowered himself to the opinions of the race baiters.

And it's partly true that Obama has taken the civil liberties position of the Bush WH and in some very serious ways gone further down the road of a police state, as we liberals predicted whoever was in office would do.  What's funny is these incredible stances by Obama aren't even on your side's radar.

Just Blow Me,

I'm still willing to bet you $100 that Hillary does NOT run for President in 2012. You won't bet because (1) you're a pusillanimous blowhard and (2) you know deep down your "Hillary will run in 2012" claims are complete bull /Kiffin/.

I'm always amazed at the job John Stewart does that actual news organizations won't.  Here he is pointing out that Glenn Beck says we didn't deserve 9/11 but our policies contributed to it.  Three months later this Imam is a radical for saying the same thing.

I thought Glenn Beck was also a radical?

I guess Beck will now be embraced by the pro Islam-is-a-religion-of-peace crowd.
