Quote
DeLong made a name for himself through toughness at a time when Tennessee football fortunes were low. The Norfolk, Va., native played for three different head coaches in as many seasons, suiting up for Bowden Wyatt’s last year in 1962, Jim McDonald’s only stint in 1963 and for the first season under Doug Dickey in 1964.

On a Hallowed hill in Tennessee
Like Beacon shining bright
The stately walls of old U.T.
Rise glorious to the sight.

So here's to you old Tennessee,
Our Alma Mater true
We pledge in love and harmony
Our loyalty to you.

They are the arguments that kings have made for enslaving the people in all ages of the world. You will find that all the arguments in favor of king-craft were of this class; they always bestrode the necks of the people, not that they wanted to do it, but because the people were better off for being ridden. - A. The DeLong family is an institution at UT..... Met him a few times and he was a great story teller...

I remember the LSU game (I think we tied - I was just a boy). To this day I can hear the echo, time and time again, of the public address announcer, "Tackle by DEE-LONG!"

He was an all-time GREAT.

God's blessings on his loved ones...

Steve Delong was my first favorite Tennessee Vols player.
I was 8 or 9 years old. He is the reason I became a Chargers fan
although they were never that good back then.

What Bob said. God's blessings.

Very appropriate OMG and thank you.  He has always been one of my favorite Vols of all time.
