Barack "The Surge Won't Work" Obama to Claim Credit for Victory it Bought About

It's always fun to watch the Commies when they are on the horns of a conundrum.

If they admit the Surge worked they have to embrace the concept of an American VICTORY in Iraq which they spent seven looonnnggg years telling us was completely impossible.

However, to state otherwise, they have to take the blame for doing everything in their power to bring about DEFEAT for American arms.

War is very simple that way.  Once the Congress votes to go to war, the country and its armed forces either WIN or they LOSE. There is no other option.

Period.

OK, Comrades, which is it?

It happens to work both ways.  If the surge worked, we're victorious.  What did we "win?"

Or, the answer could be the "surge" achieved some very limited goals and prevented an outright meltdown and humiliating failure in Iraq, but that we're a long way from declaring "victory" of any kind, seeing as how the country is in many ways worse off before we came in, hundreds of thousands are dead an injured, the ME is more unstable now than before we invaded Iraq, and Iran is building influence.

Quite honestly, the focus being on the surge, and not the initial decision to enter the war and the entire prosecution of it from inception to when it was handed off to Obama, is because if you guys asked the country to examine the entire picture, instead of one relatively inconsequential decision, you know the verdict would be unfavorable to Bush.  It will go down as one of the worst foreign policy blunders in American history, even if the "surge" was a rare bright spot in an otherwise disastrous war campaign.

Trillions and tens of thousands of U.S. dead and wounded - and what have we "won?"
