Article also includes info about lead up to Spurrier's departure in 2001....Sounds like Foley can be one tough adminstrator if mediocrity creeps in.  This article suggests Spurrier received a note under his door about which assistants to let go of after the 2001 season.

I am not certain Kerasotis is a reliable source, especially if this has not been reported elsewhere in the ensuing nine years..

I would bet if SOS had never left FL he could have had Foley's on a platter if he wanted it. A damned ole AD is good for nothing other than kissing Booster , dealing with the NCAA and taking the heat when programs under preform.

This is the first time Urban has to play with his own kids. You see what the results are. Losing 3 straight and two (or to or too) at home.

I don't believe everything in the article either.  Just thought it had some interesting opinions mixed in with a few facts so I posted it.

Gators had a great team in 2001.  If Ernest Graham were not injured, SOS probably would have won his 7th SEC Championship, second National Championship, and first BCS Championship.  Have to wonder if he would have left for the Redskins after that.  A dirty play by FSU could be the center of lost championships, a career change for the OBC, and new direction for Florida football.

I agree that the 2001 squad was probably his best team. Had 9-11 not occurred, UF might have won the National Championship, but UT improved as the season progressed. I knew the Vols would lose the SECCG to LSU, though, just not at the hands of a backup QB and RB after leading at halftime.

Just a guess but....

Saban vs Fulmer

Who knew that the backup Qb could be so talented at the QB Draw?
