http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/11/12/AR2010111202846.html

Quote
President Obama must decide now how he wants to govern in the two years leading up to the 2012 presidential election.

In recent days, he has offered differing visions of how he might approach the country's problems. At one point, he spoke of the need for "mid-course corrections." At another, he expressed a desire to take ideas from both sides of the aisle. And before this month's midterm elections, he said he believed that the next two years would involve "hand-to-hand combat" with Republicans, whom he also referred to as "enemies."

It is clear that the president is still trying to reach a resolution in his own mind as to what he should do and how he should do it.

This is a critical moment for the country. From the faltering economy to the burdensome deficit to our foreign policy struggles, America is suffering a widespread sense of crisis and anxiety about the future. Under these circumstances, Obama has the opportunity to seize the high ground and the imagination of the nation once again, and to galvanize the public for the hard decisions that must be made. The only way he can do so, though, is by putting national interests ahead of personal or political ones.

To that end, we believe Obama should announce immediately that he will not be a candidate for reelection in 2012.

Quote
We do not come to this conclusion lightly. But it is clear, we believe, that the president has largely lost the consent of the governed. The midterm elections were effectively a referendum on the Obama presidency. And even if it was not an endorsement of a Republican vision for America, the drubbing the Democrats took was certainly a vote of no confidence in Obama and his party. The president has almost no credibility left with Republicans and little with independents.

The best way for him to address both our national challenges and the serious threats to his credibility and stature is to make clear that, for the next two years, he will focus exclusively on the problems we face as Americans, rather than the politics of the moment - or of the 2012 campaign.

Quite simply, given our political divisions and economic problems, governing and campaigning have become incompatible. Obama can and should dispense with the pollsters, the advisers, the consultants and the strategists who dissect all decisions and judgments in terms of their impact on the president's political prospects.

Obama himself once said to Diane Sawyer: "I'd rather be a really good one-term president than a mediocre two-term president." He now has the chance to deliver on that idea.

Obama = Jimmy Carter

Obama is a better campaigner and speaker than he is at actually doing something worthwhile. I suspect he'll be hitting the campaign trail in mid-2011.

As they say, RTDB.....

http://spsboard.com/SPS/index.php/topic,7862.0.html

FWIW, those "democrats" are "democrats" in the same sense that Dick Morris is "democrat."  And the kind of advice those two idiots recommend is really beyond stupid.  Just for example, what the hell kind of world do they live in where they think Obama resigning has any effect on partisanship.  A democrat WILL run - or do these idiots think the only way for the republicans to govern is for democrats to just cede the WH, Senate and Congress?

Well, that might be true. McConnell said his number one goal was to defeat Obama in 2012.  Not solve the economic issues, deal with foreign policy, reform medical care, tax reform - defeat Obama.  The day he was sworn in, the right wingers declared his Presidency a failure and blocked a record number of bills, even bills that when they finally got to the floor got nearly unanimous support.  They've blocked every appointment, and some of those got unanimous support after months of waiting.  So how do you get the members of the House and Senate to "govern" instead of grandstand?  Should Harry Reid also announce his retirement, along with enough democrats in the Senate to get the GOP to 65 votes or so, and just hand the gavel right now over to Mitch McConnell?

DM,

I saw this article. These are Hillary 2012 front people clearing the way for Hillary by forcing Barry to cave like LBJ. Notice it comes on the heels of the G20 disaster where Obama was rebuked even by our so called allies.  Thanks for posting the link. A civil war is breaking out in the Democrat Party now that they have politically destroyed the less liberal members of their party in this last election.  Ironically, the Democrat Party is now more liberal post election than pre election. Check out this fight on MessNBC between the gay progressive wing of the Democrat Party and the liberal Socialist wing of the Democrat Party.

The press will not report on this Democrat Civil War but it is happening none the less.

Once again the ultimate argument for these guys, those people are stupid, meaning they are not, I think that's what this boils down to, people like NcVol wants to tell us not only who the real conservatives are, who the real tea partiers are, who the real socialists are, who the real war criminals are, who the real racists are, who the real evil people are, but also who the real democrats are...Those guys happened to have strong connections to the Clinton's...who I guess are also not real democrats, I wonder if dan Rather is a real democrat...or John Kerry...Obama cannot be if we are going on stupidity..... for that matter it seems that based on what we see here, that seems to be the quality that actually defines just who and what a REAL democrat is all about.

I'm not kidding. I always knew that Douglas Schoen and Patrick Caddell were phony democrats but I didn't expect them to make me laugh that loud this morning.

Quote
Patrick  Caddell was a pollster and senior adviser to President Jimmy Carter while Douglas Schoen was a pollster who worked for President Bill Clinton. Don't forget that Dick Morris was also a Clinton's advisor (I think Clinton was depressed when he hired them).

So this is the way it goes, IF you say something that socialists and liberals Obama lovers disagree with, if you dare show up on FOX news, you cannot be a TRUE democrats, ala Juan Williams.... It seems to me that IF we judge democrats by who pays them, the only real democrats are those backed by Soros....apparent.

FWIW I too disagree with these guys, I think Obama will run, I think he should, and I hope he does, he can do so much less damage on the campeign trail than he can sitting in the oval office....that's why I am not complaining when I see him douing all his PR gigs and flapping his gap....he has the touch of doom, and I hope he spreads it to as many other "democrats" as he can before 2012.

Pot meet kettle.

You are the king of the idiots. Between you, OMG, and JUST SCREAM there's just enough mental activity going on in your combined brains to make a gnat jealous.

Every week we have to put up with yet another "Hillary is running for Prez in 2012" thread from the SCREAMER, despite not having one iota of proof. Or with you it's thread after thread after thread of absurd premises straight from lala land websites.

There is simply no point in responding to an inane premise like Obama should not run for reelection in 2012. It's as useful as my starting a thread claiming 9-11 was an inside job of the Bush administration. Provocative, yet no proof for such inanity.

Start an intelligent thread and I will gladly debate you. But most of your threads are pure garbage, nothing more. And arguing with your psychotic beliefs and assumptions is akin to trying to reason with a crackhead on a week long binge.

1. Obama will seek reelection in 2012. Whether he wins or not, NO ONE knows at this point.
2. There is no way in hades Hillary Clinton will try to supplant an incumbent President in her own party.

End of discussion.
