Sports Parlor South is currently being bombarded by "spam" member applications that apparently originate from "Peggy" and every other a**hole east of Berlin with an internet connection. 

Should you be desirous of playing in our little Rumpus Room (any of the boards) please send an e-mail to the Plumber or myself and let us know to let you through.  Many of these "spammers" names are obviously nobody with an interest in sports, b*llsh*t or politics (yeah, I know, not a lot of difference in those last two) such as "bigsexyinga" with an email "biggdik@***.ru" but some I have to puzzle over.  I'm tired of wading through forty or so spammers looking for that one that MIGHT be legit. 

To find the Plumber's e-mail (yes, I'm going to make you work for it) go to the front page http://www.spsboard.com/ and go to the dialogue box on the left marked "Content"  and click on the "email" button.  Please submit your username and also write an English sentence (no jokes about that disqualifying most of our CURRENT members, please) and we will know to let you through.

I hate to resort to these measures but it's getting out of hand.  Already today I killed FORTY of these spammer applications and by midnight there'll be twenty more.

I doubt seriously HUMANS are even involved other than to write the software parameters.  These are ad spams, popups, and worse.  Many are prOn site links that can REALLY f-u the source code for SPS if they hit the right combination or embed themselves in YOUR system and cause havoc.

My other fear is that many of them are (and pardon me for not knowing the terminology) programs that would get in, steal your e-mail address and then spam everyone on your list - or worse. A LOT of identity theft occurs this way.
