Watch as the Unions and Libs try to destroy representative government in WI. Looks like we got a rigged Al Franken cheat election for the SCOWI. How much in Union dues money has been spent in WI for this farce of an election?  K

The real story is that despite spending literally $millions on a low-turnout election in a usually reliable blue state, they couldn't hoist their candidate over 50%.  As Insty put it: "The unions went all-in and managed a dead heat in a judicial election. The mountain has labored and brought forth a mouse."

http://pajamasmedia.com/instapundit/118152/

Unions were a specific response to a set of late 19th Century economic conditions.  They have no real purpose in the 21st Century other than to serve a conduits for money to the Democratic Party.

UPDATE!!!

"The unions went all-in and managed a dead heat in a judicial election. The mountain has labored and brought forth a mouse."

... apparently a DEAD mouse.

Apparently $35 MILLION (the reported amount the DNC and the unions spent on the Wisconsin recall elections) won't buy what it used to:

Quote
After tens of millions of dollars spent by outside interest groups, dozens of attack ads and exhaustive get-out-the-vote efforts, Democrats on Tuesday fell short of their goal of taking control of the state Senate and stopping the agenda of Gov. Scott Walker.

Republicans won four of six recall races, meaning the party still holds a narrow 17-16 majority in the Senate — at least until next week, when Sens. Robert Wirch, D-Pleasant Prairie, and Jim Holperin, D-Conover face their own recall elections. A third Democrat, Sen. Dave Hansen, D-Green Bay, easily survived a recall attempt last month.

The picture at the top of this article is just priceless!

The mountain again labored - mightily - and brought forth yet more dead rodents.

Yeah, and the republicans didn't spend a dime.

The number I heard for the GOP candidates was $40 million, and they still lost two seats, that they'd won just a few months ago.

Unlike right wing intellectual cowards who flee when confronted with data and evidence that conflicts with their world view, I'm able to admit being wrong about S&P downgrading us.  I think it's bullshiate, and I laid out my reasons why, but I was wrong.

And I'd discuss the relative fault of the parties with regards to our current fiscal situation with you, but it is more productive to beat my head against the wall....

NC, you really need to start doing stand-up.

Seriously.

I'm missing the part you find funny.  Is it the part where I say right wingers disappear when confronted with fact they don't like?  It is funny in a sad kind of way, because you guys are so predictable.  Right wingers say cutting spending 40% is easy, I ask how, with numbers attached, and that's the last word from OMG, JW, Mondo, etc. just to take the most recent example.   Well, except for assertions backed by nothing that it can be done, no prob, just cut a little here and there....

It's surely not the Wisconsin spending totals - the fact is the GOP had 10s of millions in soft money flow into those races.  There is no total, because the money is secret, thanks to Citizens United, but my figure is at least as accurate as the one your source pulled out of the air.
