In other headlines, Minister of Propaganda Jay Carney speaks the truth then quickly backtracks to the script:

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2011/06/16/carney_weve_created_more_than_21_jobs.html

The first figure was accurate, the second pulled from the nether regions of a feral Sus scrofa.

Where has Wasserman-Shultz, our favorite UF grad been since the S&P Obama Downgrade? She has been scarce like NVC since the Obama Debt Downgrade.

http://web.econ.ohio-state.edu/dupor/arra10_may11.pdf

Net jobs from the Porkulus: a DECLINE of 550,000 jobs.

"Our benchmark results suggest that the ARRA created/saved approximately 450 thousand state and local government jobs and destroyed/forestalled roughly one million private sector jobs. State and local government jobs were saved because ARRA funds were largely used to offset state revenue shortfalls and Medicaid increases rather than boost private sector employment. The majority of destroyed/forestalled jobs were in growth industries including health, education, professional and business services."

Woot.

ARRA has done nothing in regard to ending the skyrocketing joblessness with the exception of giving part-time jobs to census workers to count as many illegals as could be rounded up to skew the numbers upward in Democrat states. Who are you kidding w/ this rot? Our jobless rate is in the 9+% range consistently with this POTUS. Even his own Labor Department cannot fudge the numbers enough to make it look good for him. If we were looking at the true unemployment number, U6, it would be even worse. Nobody, and I mean nobody, but a few extreme liberals like yourself contend the Obama/Pelosi/Reid Shovel-Ready China-Debt Jobs Stimulus Bill produced jobs. When you make claims such as this people will think you are a kook similar to how you put yourself out on a limb when you said the US credit rating will never be downgraded.

Actually, no, as far as I'm aware, other than the study you cite, EVERY look at the stimulus concluded the job gains were between 1 and 4 million.  We'll never know, but the normal ways federal spending is alleged to be a hindrance to jobs are through higher interest rates on borrowing, and they're lower now than at nearly any time in our lifetimes, or through crowding out private investment and consumption, which isn't happening since consumption has plummeted, private investment plummeted, there are 15 million unemployed, many more millions under-employed, and 5 looking for every job opening.  Even the study you cite has no explanation for the results they get - they don't pretend to explain it, because all the traditional explanations run counter to the evidence that we see.  The authors essentially say, yeah, this makes NO sense, so someone else will have to figure out what the hell happened - we sure can't...

But I'm arguing facts and evidence here, and that's always a mistake with the right wing blowhards.  All you need to know is what you hear on Rush Limbaugh....

And to Rush, this makes sense.

1) We borrow money and hand it out in tax cuts, where people spend the money, sometimes to hire people, creating prosperity for all, and we all eat lollipops and sing around a roaring campfire.

2) We borrow money and the government spends it on infrastructure and dozens of other categories, salaries for people who otherwise get fired, and one third on tax cuts, which in republican evidence free economic analysis produces economic nirvana, and that causes JOBS LOSSES!

Of course no one can make sense of that, because it's stupid and contradictory.  It's the borrowing money that is stimulative - how it gets into the economy affects things only on the margins.  And the evidence consistently shows tax cuts are among the LEAST efficient stimulus measures - people get the tax savings and sit on it. But in right wing la la land, if the borrowed money gets into the economy through tax cuts, it is MAGIC, but if the borrowed money gets into the economy through spending, it's DESTRUCTIVE.

No evidence supports that view - only blind ideology repeated on every right wing propaganda outfit 100% universally unaccompanied by the slightest thread of evidence to back up the discredited theory.

Obama Jokes at Jobs Council 'Shovel-Ready Was Not as Shovel-Ready as We Expected' - President Obama

I remember this "working press conference" SAS. This was one of those deals where the White House has the POTUS out in front the day after one of these horrible monthly jobs reports was released in order to put forward the notion that the POTUS is concerned that so many are losing their jobs and to give the false impression he is gong to do something about it all. Incredible! Does anyone find it strange that on the one hand the demlibs are crying we need to rebuild our aging infrastructure (I agree) but our hard working and ever golfing POTUS can't find any shovel-ready jobs out in the hustings and to solve this mess we need another Keynesian borrowed money dope shot injection from the national government to get this done. We can't find the shovel-ready jobs but we need desperatly to rebuild our naiton's infrastructure. The inconsistency and duplicity is overwhelming in this regard. "We have no shovel ready jobs" does not work with "we must rebuild our aging infrastructure." You just borrowed and spent $1,000,000,000,000.00 and you could not find infrastructure projects to spend it on? Folks they are selling us a pipe dream and the sooner we come to this conclusion the sooner we can begin to bring the government under control. Of the people, by the people, and for the people and not some liberal Statist power structure set up fo the benefit of some sort of extreme left Politburo.

Obama Jokes at Jobs Council 'Shovel-Ready Was Not as Shovel-Ready as We Expected' - President Obama

Sas,

I remember back to the disastrous Jimmy Carter presidency. He gave a speech in which he described the nation as being in an economic ""malaise"." Off the cuff insolent comments like the one in your video clip above as well as this inexplicable tirade (see Obama America Is Soft Video Below) by POTUS Obama this week leave an impression of excuse making. I have several friends that are Regan Democrats that were infuriated by the TAPR bailout by the Bush Administration after the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac financial debacles that regret the day they voted for POTUS Obama back in 2008. These Regan Democrat friends of mine are struggling with all their might to keep their realestate businesses afloat. The were highly offended by the POTUS saying they were soft and not competitive.
