Obama 50th birthday bash set for August 3

President Obama is slated to celebrate his 50th birthday with a major fundraiser at Chicago's historic Aragon Ballroom on August 3. A campaign official told CBS News that the campaign is moving forward with the event, though the White House says it could be cancelled if a deal is not reached on raising the debt limit by the August 2 deadline.

Does anybody know if peas are going to be served?

I'm going to take a day off work, buy a teleprompter (I have no idea why, just a feeling) and go play a round of 18 at River Islands GC.

Party IS on!

http://www.nbcchicago.com/news/politics/obama-birthday-chicago-126648603.html

Tickets for the fundraising dinner cost an astonishing $35,800 a person. Additional contributions of $50 will gain entry to the concert with limited seating, while $1,000 donors receive 'premium' seats for President Obama's birthday.

$10,000 tickets include 'preferred' seating along with the chance to take a photograph with Obama.

That is mighty high dollars for some people to "eat their peas".

Yeah, it's so surprising we can't raise taxes on the wealthy....  I mean, those contributions obviously don't affect votes or policy.

The really great thing is all those donors can ALSO give unlimited funds in secret to astro turf groups, thanks to our conservative SC and the conservatives in the Senate who blocked legislation requiring the donors at least be identified.

So if you and your buds want to spend a couple mill to buy a Senator - GREAT!  Just set up a group, get a nice name, "Real Americans for Prosperity" might work, and there you go.  Nobody even has to know your name.

You, too, can party like an unindicted co-conspirator.

And for a mere $35K!

I wonder if Blago will be there?  They owe him big. He is taking the fall for Barry and Rhambo.
