I completely disagree AV.

Newt is to Romney what Palin was to McCain.  A perceived conservative running mate to make the RINO candidate more palatable to the conservative voter.

Wanna have some fun with this? Let's have a bet. The loser has to use as his signature line, exclusively, something the winner wants for one month. It could be something like (e.g. if I win) "Obama is a wonderful President and I'm ashamed I didn't vote for him" or "I really should have voted for Ron Paul, what was I thinking?" (e.g., if you win). Nothing vulgar, just something hysterically funny. We can decide the specifics later.

Are you game? I say there is no way in hades Romney picks Gingrich. That's almost as bad as Gingrich winning the nomination himself.

One thing is for certain with Barry, his poll numbers are some of the worst since the days of Jimmy Carter and Biden has proved to be a liability. If Hillary joins the ticket i is a glaring admission of the failure of this administration. It says with crystal clear clarity that they know Barry cannot win with unless some sort of gimmickry is employed. Barry alone on the ticket is unable to win. It is a de facto admission they know he is so weak at the voting booth that he must be supplemented to have a chance to win.

Pay attention.

Obama's poll numbers have been on the rise. He is now over 50%.

Oh, and you're the who has started at least ten threads claiming Hillary would run for President against Obama, not as his running mate. Good grief which story is it?

Sure, why not.  There's only about a 1 in 3 chance it will happen, but IMHO its within the realm of possibility because of the makeup of both candidates.

You're on.

If it's not Newt, then it's Santorum or Romney's buddy Christie decides to quit his gig and run with him.

JR,

OMG knows much more about this kind of stuff than I do. But from what I can tell the diminutive communist economist out at UC Berkeley is floating a trial balloon and conditioning the base for some sort of poll testing. The DemLibs are getting TERRIBLE poll numbers on Barry when they poll the base with the exception of the handout welfare wing of the DemLib Party which is a rapidly growing constituency within the base but is still not enough to make Barry competitive in the general election. It is hard to get those getting handouts to show up at the polls regularly unless you can create a panic or fear that they will be losing a freebie handout. Remember you still have 52% of the e nation that pay taxes to the national government in some way. This may be the last election in the history of the Republic where we have a majority that pay taxes and a minority getting handouts of some kind. The DemLibs believe the Hillary gimmickry in the VPOTUS spot is just the thing to excite the base come November.

It's funny the White House had to scramble to put out the fire last week about Biden dropping out and Hillary taking his place.

Good bump DM...

Even the Democrats realize that as much as the media glosses things over right now, the masses are growing restless.  They have to slap some lipstick on this pig or it won't fly next November.  That lipstick is Hillary Clinton.

I can see an Obama/Clinton ticket beating a Romney/Newt ticket.  At the most fundamental level, what's the difference?

JR,

Do you still think Romney will choose Newt as his VP? Newt blames Romney's negative attacks for his precipitous drop in the polls, when it briefly appeared he would win the Iowa caucus. Newt has turned so negative (after vowing to run a positive campaign) that even Rush Limbaugh can't believe it. The pill popper says he is attacking Romney as if he were a Democrat and is giving ammunition to the Dems when Romney becomes the Republican candidate. It's obvious Newt is on a mission to destroy Romney at all costs.

There is no way in Hades Romney will pick Gingrich for his ticket.

Granted, it looks less likely than a couple weeks ago, I still wouldn't rule anything out.

Watch SC closely.  When Romney belly flops there it will be painfully apparent to his campaign and the RNC establishment that Romney "sells" to New Hampshire "Evangelicals" but south of the Mason Dixon line, we don't buy the John Edwards hair and New England aloofness like they do in the north.  Romney is nothing more than a polished turd and it will show in the South Carolina caucus.

Mittens has got to have a "conservative" running mate much like McCain did.  While Newt is nothing of the sort, he has that perception among the party.

Looks like you were correct about the belly flop for Romney in SC. When you made the prediction above Romney had a double digit lead in SC and nearly the entire SC GOP establishment behind him. I expected him to win especially after ABC tried to take out Dr. Gingrich with the four year old allegations by the ex-spouse. Romney spent Obama/Axelrod  kind of money on ads in SC and still got licked.  I don't think anyone expected Dr. Gingrich to have such a cogent showing in the debates and conversely Romney to have such an anemic showing in the debates. On to FL. This thing is far from settled
