That trip to Maui was fool's gold. Everybody's pre-season expectations was right on. Those may actually be a bit high.

In my lifetime we have never been very good in both BB and FB in the same year. We are not good in anything and all we have to look forward to is Baseball and it is in a rebuilding cycle. The Brand is definitely battered. In basketball those kids are going to have to start making plays and execute. The style we play seems to always come down to having to make shots, hit free throws and make defensive stops in the last 2 minutes of a game. Most of these games we have played STUPID basketball and tossed up terrible shots against teams I thought we should have blown out...... If they play smarter early in the game things could turn around.. JMO

In football I am afraid we are 4 years off from turning it around. We have another coaching change in the near future IMO. At least DD will leave more players and talent for the next guy. Not enough to win the SEC or even be better than a 3rd in the east but at least something for the next guy to build on.

Don't worry Vawls. You have a Bama man at the helm now. Good times are here again!

1970 was a great year. I was born and Bama started an unrivaled run in the SEC and nationally. 8 SEC championships and 3 National Championships.

1970  sounds great

Bill Battle was not the entire reason we sucked back in the day but he was in over his head. The change in the make up of the student athlete overwhelmed UT and Battle. Plus kids were not as clean cut and "old school" as Bill Battle was.

1970 ?

the Vols finished 11 - 1 including a 24-0 beatdown of Bama and a Sugar Bowl win which earned us a final #4 national ranking. actually the next two seasons (10 - 2 & 10 - 2) were good as well until Battle's dismal recruiting started to show up on the field in 1973 (8 - 4).

We are so bad now that BTX has lost his edge in running smack at UT. Times are really bad.

But, Martin is hopefully a good hire. Cronan made a great baseball hire.

This will be Dooley's last year and (Thank God Hamiliton won't be making another hire) and we might have a fighting chance with Hart.

But, it looks like about another 4 more bad years of football.

UTjr is so bad at everything except women's basketball, that it is not really any fun to smack talk to ya'll. Ya'll just agree with everything.

I mean, seriously, if this were a comedy, the jokes would write themselves.
