Georgia has managed to lobby the commissioner to allow them to drop Alabama and move our game to October.  They avoid having to play Arkansas, Alabama, or LSU for the second year in a row.  They have won the easiest path to the SEC Championship game again.

It is also rumored that Florida is lobbying to have LSU removed as their permanent West Division opponent.

Tennessee has more backbone than Georgia and Florida.  I commend the Vols for wanting to keep the annual game with Alabama.

The SEC doesn’t plan on releasing the 2012 schedule until sometime after Christmas, but parts of it are already starting to leak out.

SEC commissioner Mike Slive has said that next season’s schedule will be a one-year deal and that beginning in 2013 a new long-term rotation will be put into place.

One of the things to look for next season is Missouri and Texas A&M both getting some marquee games at home with it being their first year in the league.

For instance, Florida is scheduled to travel to Texas A&M the second week of the season, which would be the Aggies’ first SEC game.

Likewise, Georgia is scheduled to visit Missouri early in September.

Some of the other things to watch for, and all of this is tentative, is South Carolina opening the season at Vanderbilt on a Thursday night.

Also, the Georgia-South Carolina game is moving to October. It’s always been played the second week of the season in the past.

Alabama is slated to play both Missouri and Texas A&M, while Tennessee will play Missouri at home in November.

One of the developments with the 2012 schedule that’s sure to receive plenty of debate is Alabama coming off Georgia’s schedule.

Originally, Georgia was supposed to travel to Alabama next season. Now, it looks like that’s not going to happen and that Georgia’s two Western Division opponents will be Auburn and Ole Miss.

That means Georgia would avoid Alabama, Arkansas and LSU for a second straight season.

In addition to Texas A&M, Florida’s other Western Division foe will remain LSU.

Ole Miss’ game with Vanderbilt will move to later in the season. What’s more, the Rebels are scheduled to play both Texas and Texas A&M at home in 2012.

South Carolina, meanwhile, will get Arkansas and LSU as its two Western opponents next season.

Tennessee’s two Western opponents will be Mississippi State on the road and Alabama at home.

This really helps TN as far as next years schedule. Ark and LSU gone and pick up Miss St. Going to make DD'sjob even harder. If he does not win 9 games next year the base will turn on him and want him fired. TN is not a 9 game winner next year. Be lucky to win 7 games even with the lousy schedule. The FULMER/Kiffin firings hiring etc killed the UT program

Next years schedule is a one and done deal.  We'll know soon who the conference really likes.

The schedule I saw has us playing Arkansas in week 2 and LSU in week 4.  The SEC is taking a home game with MSU away from us.

Since we play Arkansas and LSU early, I like it.  Petrino's teams seem to struggle a little early but get rolling later in the year.  They should be a preason top 10 team.  LSU could be the defending BCS Champion with a pre-season #1 ranking.  If we are going to one day win the SEC, we have to beat those guys anyway.

In 2012, I would rather be in the West Division where all the tough teams have to play each other instead of competing with that punk of a schedule the league is giving Georgia for the second year in a row.

Win or Lose, isn't Nick Saban retiring after the rematch with LSU in the BCS Championship?

Here is our schedule and my predictions:
2012 schedule

Sept. 1 - NC State (Atlanta)-Tossup Game
Sept. 8 - Georgia State-Win
Sept. 15 - Florida-Loss
Sept. 22 - Akron-win
Sept. 29 - at Georgia-Loss
Oct. 6 - Open
Oct. 13 - at Mississippi State-loss
Oct. 20 - Alabama-loss
Oct. 27 - at South Carolina-loss
Nov. 3 - Troy-win
Nov. 10 - Missouri-tossup
Nov. 17 - at Vanderbilt-win
Nov. 24 - Kentucky-win

Going in I can only name 5 wins and some say Vandy is not a sure thing. It is hard to pick any other projected losses as tossups. Miss St is a road game and Miss St has been showing some life and perhaps you can call it a toss up-BUT reality is that we probably lose that game, same with Missouri. I do place it as a tossup because it is at home. I expect DD to be either notified he is fired by this game or expecting the bad news.

The chemistry is terrible on this team and they have no respect for the staff. Talent level is up to what we had 2 years ago but we are still only a 7-8 win talent team at BEST

If everyone is healthy, they can beat Florida, USC, Miss State and maybe even Georgia, Plumb. Bammer is the only sure loss imo. It all depends on team chemistry and if some
of these kids can grow up over the off season.

Tennessee needs a head coach to lead the program.  Tyler Bray is a great QB and should win alot of games in te division with support.  It will be interesting to see what Jay Graham adds to the mix.  He was a good coach for us and I want to see how he develops UT's RBs in 2012.  He can't help but improve the 2.8 yards / carry and 1081 yards rushing the Vols had in 2011.

Did Dooley only make 1 staff change as bad as the offense was in 2011?  Seems like the OC would have been fired and replaced.

Another assistant other than Baggett left (Eric Russell I thinkk?) and joined Leach's
staff. Dooley hasn't named a replacement yet.
