The best coordinator in the land. Most years his defense ranked in the top 10 or better. I do not know why anyone would think he could do the job    that is as well as the last two that have tried to replace a legend

Plenty of assistants can't cut it as the HBC.

Why don't ya'll make Chavis the highest paid assistant in college football and bring him back to UT as your new DC.  He'll bring Ron Cooper with him, the best defensive backfield coach in college football.

I like that idea.

To answer the question, I think Chavis makes a better DC than he would as a coach. He just doesn't seem to have thee charisma one needs to be a HC at a major 1-A football program. But I wouldn't mind seeing him as our DC.
